About the Role
A well-established RF and microwave component manufacturer is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to support production of high-performance components (VCOs, frequency synthesizers, filters, mixers, and couplers) used in defense, communications, and industrial applications. This is a hands-on, floor-facing role: you will work directly with SMT placement equipment and assembly teams, hand-solder prototype and first-article builds, and drive process improvements that keep production running smoothly. If you enjoy being on the floor as much as at a workstation, and you want to work on cutting-edge RF hardware, this is a strong fit.
Salary range: $72,000 - $92,000/year
What You'll Do
● Support and improve SMT and hand-assembly processes for RF and microwave components, including operation and programming of Mydata SMT placement equipment.
● Build and hand-solder prototype and first-article assemblies (connectors, coax cable, test fixtures) to IPC workmanship standards.
● Design and build tooling, jigs, and fixtures to support production and reduce assembly time or defects.
● Troubleshoot production issues on the floor, working directly with assemblers and operators to resolve fit, yield, or process problems.
● Support new product introduction (NPI) by helping transition new designs from engineering into a repeatable, efficient production process.
● Document work instructions, process routers, and process improvements; contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
● Work within ESD-controlled environments when handling RF-sensitive components.
What We're Looking For
● Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or related field, or equivalent hands-on production experience.
● Proven hand-soldering skill, ideally to IPC-A-610 or similar workmanship standards.
● Experience with SMT placement equipment; Mydata / Mycronic experience is a strong plus, but not required if you have equivalent SMT platform experience and can ramp up quickly.
● Comfort working directly on the production floor alongside assemblers and operators, not solely at a desk.
● Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, BOMs, and mechanical/electrical schematics.
● Experience in RF/microwave, electronics, or precision manufacturing environments strongly preferred.
● A process-improvement mindset: you notice yield, quality, or efficiency issues on the line and take initiative to fix them.
Why Apply
● Work on advanced RF and microwave hardware used in defense and communications applications.
● Direct hire opportunity with a stable, established manufacturer.
● A role that blends engineering problem-solving with real hands-on floor work - not a purely desk-bound position.
