What Good Care Looks Like
Good care is specific. It is the right medication, for the right person, at the exact right time, and someone following up to make sure it actually worked.
That follow-through is where the system usually breaks down, and it is where Clarest steps in. We manage medication for patients across long-term care, assisted living, and at home, building the technology that keeps all three connected, so no one gets handed off and forgotten.
None of that happens without the people doing it, which is why we hold ourselves to the same standard with our own. Paid time off increases the longer you are here, life insurance is company-paid, and for associates who enroll in our health plan, a dedicated nurse advocate and no-cost telehealth extend to eligible dependents as well. Careers here move in more directions than most people expect, and many of our leaders started in the roles we are hiring for now.
Keep the Machines Running Before They Break
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will keep the automated dispensing and packaging systems in our pharmacies running safely and reliably. Pharmacists, technicians, and the patients they serve all depend on those machines being ready when the orders arrive.
This is not a break-fix job. You will use equipment data, controls expertise, and root-cause analysis to fix the problem behind the problem, moving our operations toward predictive reliability across multiple U.S. sites.
What You'll Do
In this role, you will own the performance of our pharmacy automation equipment, with real autonomy to diagnose problems and decide how to solve them.
• Analyze OEE, downtime, MTBF, MTTR, scrap, and failure patterns to find improvement opportunities
• Lead root-cause investigations of complex or recurring equipment and process failures and determine the right engineering solutions
• Develop and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance strategies using CMMS and equipment data
• Troubleshoot, program, and modify PLC-based control systems, HMI interfaces, industrial sensors, and related electronic controls
• Apply SPC, Lean Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methods to improve throughput and reduce scrap, waste, and recurring failures
• Lead engineering projects from technical evaluation through implementation and operational handoff
• Partner with equipment manufacturers and suppliers on FAT, SAT, installations, retrofits, startup, and commissioning
• Provide remote and onsite engineering support across multiple U.S. pharmacy locations, including technical direction and coaching for Electro-Mechanics, operators, and site personnel
• Develop and maintain SOPs, work instructions, equipment validation and qualification documentation, troubleshooting standards, and technical reports, and deliver training
• Work with Operations, IT, Quality/Compliance, and vendors to resolve technical issues, coordinate equipment modifications and spare-parts strategies, and address supplier quality concerns
• Support critical production periods, equipment deployments, system upgrades, and new-site startups, including an engineering on-call rotation of approximately one week every three to four weeks
• Comply with HIPAA, company policies, and confidentiality requirements for PHI and proprietary information
What We're Looking For
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a directly related engineering discipline (or substantially equivalent advanced engineering knowledge through specialized technical education and progressively responsible engineering experience)
• 3+ years of engineering experience in a high-volume automated production, manufacturing, packaging, fulfillment, or similar environment
• Experience troubleshooting PLC-based controls and electronic control systems
• Working knowledge of low-voltage controls and three-phase electrical power systems
• Experience with engineering root-cause analysis and preventive and predictive maintenance practices
Bonus Points If You Have
• Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, pharmacy automation, medical device packaging, automated fulfillment, or another highly regulated, high-availability environment
• Experience with CMMS, equipment commissioning, FAT/SAT, or new-system deployments
• Experience leading engineering or continuous improvement projects
You'll Be Successful If You Have
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause problem-solving skills
• Sound independent judgment in diagnosing complex problems, evaluating alternatives, and knowing when to escalate
• The ability to interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, blueprints, and equipment data
• Clear written and verbal communication that works for both technical and non-technical audiences
• The ability to work independently across geographically dispersed teams while managing multiple priorities and deadlines, with strong organization and attention to detail
• The ability to coach and train Electro-Mechanics, operators, and other site personnel
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or move up to 50 pounds occasionally during equipment evaluation, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and setup
• Ability to stand, bend, reach, and use tools regularly in pharmacy production and automated equipment environments
• Ability to remain seated and perform computer-based work for extended periods
• Ability to communicate clearly by phone and in virtual meetings
What We Offer
• Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance (plans starting as low as $13.73 per pay period)
• Free Virtual Care and Telemedicine Services
• Paid Time Off
• 401(k) with Company Match
• Company-Paid Life Insurance
• Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) and Health Savings Accounts (HSA)
• Employee Referral Bonuses
• Pet Insurance
• Legal Insurance
