Job Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager, Power Electronics, is responsible for developing and executing manufacturing plans for ERMCO/GridBridge new power electronics products supporting DC distribution infrastructure for Data Centers and other applications. This role leads manufacturing engineering activities from product development through pilot builds and early production, ensuring safe, high-quality, scalable, and cost-effective manufacturing processes.

 

This position will hire, lead, and develop a manufacturing team while working closely with product development, quality, supply chain, operations, customers, and external electronics contract manufacturers (ECMs).

 

This role will be onsite in Raleigh, NC. Relocation Assistance is available.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage manufacturing engineers and technicians supporting power electronics builds, test, and pilot activities.
  • Develop manufacturing plans, process flows, assembly methods, test approach, tooling, fixtures, and production readiness plans.
  • Recruit, onboard, train, and develop team members while promoting safety, quality, ownership, and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with the product development team to understand system design, requirements, risks, and manufacturing considerations.
  • Work closely with the product development team to plan, coordinate, and execute system integration, acceptance testing, and production validation activities, ensuring hardware, firmware, controls, communications, and manufacturing processes are fully validated prior to customer deployment.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, assembly procedures, travelers, inspection plans, and test procedures.
  • Coordinate prototype, pilot, and early production builds with external ECMs and internal teams.
  • Drive DFM, DFA, and DFT feedback to improve manufacturability, testability, quality, and serviceability.
  • Support customer pilots, demonstrations, site deployment readiness, and field feedback resolution.
  • Partner with Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations to resolve supplier, assembly, test, and manufacturing issues.
  • Track manufacturing KPIs such as schedule adherence, first-pass yield, quality issues, cycle time, rework, and pilot readiness.
  • Provide leadership updates on manufacturing status, risks, resource needs, and recovery plans.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable safety, quality, electrical, and operational requirements.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 8+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, NPI, operations engineering, or related technical roles.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience managing engineers, technicians, or cross-functional technical teams.
  • Experience supporting power electronics, electrical equipment, industrial electronics, data center power, energy systems, or similar products.
  • Experience working with electronics contract manufacturers or outsourced manufacturing partners.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing process development, assembly operations, test processes, production readiness, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, bills of material, assembly documentation, and test requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office; ERP, PLM, MES, or quality system experience preferred.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with DC/DC converters, AC/DC rectifiers, inverters, UPS systems, EV charging, energy storage, or data center power infrastructure.
  • Experience with high-voltage or high-power electrical systems and associated safety practices.
  • Experience developing end-of-line test, functional test, HiPot/insulation test, and production validation processes.
  • Familiarity with UL, IEC, IEEE, NEC, OSHA, and related standards.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience preferred.

  • Ability to work in office, lab, manufacturing, and customer pilot environments.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work around manufacturing and test equipment as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds occasionally.
  • Occasional travel to customers, suppliers, ECMs, and ERMCO facilities may be required.
  • Position contingent on passing all applicable fit-for-duty and safety requirements.
