Job Description

A manufacturing company in the Memphis area is seeking their next Manufacturing Manager to lead daily production operations. This is a hands-on leadership role with responsibility for production scheduling, workforce management, quality, equipment utilization, inventory, and overall manufacturing performance.The organization operates in a demanding manufacturing environment where production efficiency, quality, and on-time delivery are critical. The company is looking for a leader who can manage day-to-day operations, develop supervisors and production personnel, resolve manufacturing challenges, and drive improvements in productivity and operational performance.Responsibilities
  • Lead daily manufacturing operations, ensuring production schedules, quality standards, safety requirements, and customer delivery commitments are met.
  • Manage production supervisors and manufacturing personnel, establishing clear expectations, priorities, and accountability.
  • Coordinate production scheduling, labor allocation, equipment capacity, and material availability to maintain efficient manufacturing operations.
  • Monitor productivity, throughput, downtime, inventory levels, and departmental budgets.
  • Identify and resolve production bottlenecks, material shortages, equipment issues, and scheduling conflicts.
  • Implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve manufacturing performance.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance activities to support equipment reliability and minimize production interruptions.
  • Utilize ERP/MRP systems to manage work orders, production schedules, material requirements, and inventory.
  • Oversee manufacturing projects from initiation through completion, ensuring schedules, budgets, and resource requirements are met.
  • Partner with engineering, quality, purchasing, and other departments to support production requirements and customer commitments.
  • Monitor manufacturing performance metrics and provide regular operational updates to leadership.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Required Experience
  • Proven manufacturing leadership experience in a Production Manager, Manufacturing Manager, Operations Manager, or comparable role.
  • Experience managing production teams, supervisors, and daily manufacturing operations.
  • Strong understanding of production scheduling, capacity planning, inventory management, and manufacturing workflow.
  • Demonstrated success improving productivity, efficiency, quality, or on-time delivery.
  • Experience managing manufacturing resources, departmental budgets, and operational performance.
  • Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, production reporting, and manufacturing performance metrics.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant manufacturing experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in precision machining, CNC manufacturing, medical device manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, or similar technical manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with high-mix, low-volume manufacturing and complex production scheduling.
  • Experience implementing Lean manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, or other continuous-improvement initiatives.
  • Knowledge of ISO (13485, 9001) or other manufacturing quality-management systems.
  • Experience improving equipment utilization, labor efficiency, scrap reduction, and production throughput.
  • Background working closely with engineering, quality, and maintenance teams in a precision manufacturing environment.
