Title: Manufacturing Operator
Position Type: 1 year contract with additional opportunity contingent upon performance and continued business need
Job Location: Newark, DE  
Shift:Rotating 12-hour shifts, 2-3-2 schedule

Compensation: $28.37/hour 

Position Overview
We are seeking a Manufacturing Operator to join our Operations team. This position plays an important role in the safe and compliant packaging of materials and requires a strong commitment to quality, safety, and production results.
The Manufacturing Operator I will be responsible for setting up, operating, and troubleshooting packaging equipment, completing required documentation, following current SOPs and cGMP requirements, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and supporting overall production activities.
This is a hands-on manufacturing position that requires an energetic, dependable, safety-conscious individual who works well as part of a team and is committed to continuously developing their skills.

Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing & Production
  • Operate packaging equipment in accordance with established SOPs and cGMP requirements.
  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot packaging lines and equipment.
  • Maintain necessary supplies for the packaging area.
  • Accurately complete and maintain required production records and documentation.
  • Move finished products to designated storage areas using powered industrial trucks.
  • Reprocess materials as directed by supervision and established procedures.
  • Support packaging operations to maintain efficient production flow.
  • Change product sifter screens as required.
  • Change baghouse bags and clean storage bins as directed.
  • Maintain and empty dust collection and vacuum cleaning equipment.
  • Assist in other plant operations as needed, including equipment changes, purging, and cleaning.
  • Perform barcoding activities in accordance with SOPs.
Quality & Compliance
  • Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping throughout production and packaging areas.
  • Follow all cGMP practices and procedures.
  • Perform product sampling and required analyses.
  • Complete inspections and documentation associated with process and quality records.
  • Identify and report product quality risks and take appropriate action.
  • Follow all applicable SOPs, work instructions, and document-control procedures.
Safety & Environmental
  • Perform all work in accordance with applicable EHS policies and procedures.
  • Follow established safety procedures, including requirements related to PPE and equipment operation.
  • Participate in site safety programs, audits, behavioral-based safety activities, and other EHS initiatives.
  • Immediately report and address unsafe conditions.
  • Follow applicable company, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements.
Training & Development
  • Develop knowledge of plant operations and packaging processes.
  • Learn and perform additional tasks and functions as required.
  • Develop multi-skilled capabilities by learning responsibilities in other areas.
  • Participate in required training and professional development activities.
  • Train and provide guidance to new Process Operators.
  • Maintain current knowledge of packaging systems and procedures.
Communication & Teamwork
  • Communicate professionally and respectfully with coworkers and supervisors.
  • Work effectively as part of a team.
  • Utilize applicable communication methods, including email, telephone, meetings, logs, and reports.
  • Maintain accurate timekeeping and required documentation.
  • Protect company property and equipment.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical degree or coursework in Manufacturing or Process Technology preferred.
  • Previous experience in an industrial or chemical plant environment preferred.
  • Experience with industrial safety practices such as LOTO, PPE, permitting, and confined-space procedures preferred.
  • Previous experience in food or pharmaceutical manufacturing preferred.
  • Forklift or other powered industrial truck experience preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend documents in English.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, minimally at a 10th-grade level.
  • Strong computer aptitude and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to read, follow, and retain procedures and work instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively and respectfully in a team environment.
  • Must be willing and able to wear required PPE, including safety equipment, earplugs, gloves, safety glasses, hard hat, hairnet, and steel-toed shoes.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Work is performed primarily in manufacturing and packaging areas.
  • Must be comfortable working in hot, cold, and loud environments.
  • Position requires frequent standing, walking, climbing stairs, reaching, and handling materials.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, and perform repetitive movements.
  • Ability to operate motorized industrial equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work a rotating 12-hour schedule.
  • Schedule may change based on facility operational requirements.
