Join Our Manufacturing Team

CHL Systems is seeking a Manufacturing Planner II/III to support production planning, material coordination, and manufacturing execution in a fast-paced custom equipment environment.

This role serves as a critical link between Engineering, Purchasing, Scheduling, Project Management, and Production to help ensure work orders, materials, and manufacturing plans align with customer commitments and operational goals.

We are open to hiring at either Manufacturing Planner II or Manufacturing Planner III level based on experience, technical capability, and demonstrated ability to operate independently. Candidates at the higher level will take on increased ownership of complex planning activities, cross-functional coordination, process improvement initiatives, and support for less-experienced team members.

Why Join CHL Systems?
  • Competitive compensation with growth opportunities
  • Weekly pay
  • Medical, dental, vision, PTO, paid holidays, and 401(k) with company match
  • Stable, family-owned manufacturing company with 65+ years in business
  • Collaborative, team-oriented culture built on integrity and accountability
  • Opportunity to directly impact production efficiency, material readiness, and project success
What You’ll Do

Production Planning & Execution
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing work orders, routings, and production plans using ERP systems
  • Coordinate material readiness, production schedules, and workflow to align with project timelines
  • Support planning and execution of fabricated components, assemblies, and custom equipment builds
  • Monitor production progress and identify risks related to schedule, cost, material availability, or capacity
  • Assist in defining production paths that balance efficiency, quality, labor needs, and delivery timelines
  • Help ensure manufacturing plans support customer commitments and operational priorities
Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Serve as a key liaison between Engineering, Purchasing, Scheduling, Project Management, and Production Team
  • Communicate planning status, material availability, risks, and schedule concerns to appropriate stakeholders
  • Coordinate with Purchasing on material shortages, vendor timelines, substitutions, and procurement needs
  • Support communication between shop floor personnel and engineering teams to resolve planning or production issues
  • Partner with internal teams to address changing project needs, priorities, and production constraints
Manufacturing & Technical Support
  • Interpret engineering drawings, bills of materials, routings, and technical documentation to support accurate planning
  • Review design details, fabrication requirements, and assembly needs to support manufacturability and production flow
  • Provide design-for-manufacturability input by communicating production capabilities, constraints, and timing concerns
  • Support troubleshooting of manufacturing, engineering, material, and scheduling issues
  • Collaborate with production teams to ensure manufacturing plans are practical, accurate, and aligned with execution needs
Process Improvement & Optimization
  • Identify and address planning inefficiencies, workflow gaps, material constraints, and process improvement opportunities
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that improve production flow, quality, scheduling accuracy, and planning consistency
  • Support standardization of planning practices, documentation, and communication across projects
What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
  • Experience in manufacturing planning, production coordination, technical operations support, or a related manufacturing role
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, bills of material, work orders, routings, and technical documentation
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, fabrication, machining, assembly, or custom equipment environment preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, shifting production demands, and cross-functional communication in a fast-paced environment
Experience Level Expectations
  • Manufacturing Planner II: Typically 3-6 years of relevant experience; able to work independently on planning activities and coordinate cross-functional execution
  • Manufacturing Planner III: Typically 7+ years of relevant experience; demonstrates advanced planning expertise, leads complex planning efforts, contributes to process optimization, and supports team development
Technical Skills & Knowledge
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including dimensioning, tolerancing, fabrication terminology, and assembly requirements
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication, mechanical assembly, and equipment integration
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Epicor, Jobscope, or similar platforms
  • Familiarity with CAD tools or 3D model viewers such as eDrawings, AutoCAD, or similar tools
  • Understanding of production flow, routing development, material planning, capacity planning, and manufacturing constraints
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles preferred
Professional Skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, changing schedules, and competing production demands
  • Effective communication across engineering, production, purchasing, scheduling, and project teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify risks and recommend solutions
  • Proactive mindset with the ability to escalate issues, follow up consistently, and keep work moving forward
  • Level III: Ability to lead initiatives, influence decisions, improve processes, and mentor others
This Could Be a Great Fit If You
  • Enjoy connecting engineering, materials, scheduling, and production to keep manufacturing work moving
  • Are comfortable reading drawings, reviewing BOMs, and translating technical information into practical production plans
  • Like solving problems related to materials, routings, workflow, timing, and shop floor execution
  • Can stay organized while managing multiple projects, priorities, and changing production needs
  • Communicate clearly with engineering, purchasing, scheduling, and production teams
  • Want to make a direct impact on production efficiency, planning accuracy, and project success
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Primarily on-site role with time split between office and manufacturing floor environments
  • Regular movement between office areas, manufacturing floor, and customer sites
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use a computer for extended periods
  • Occasional bending, reaching, crouching, or movement throughout production areas
  • Ability to lift and carry materials or items up to 25–50 lbs. occasionally
  • Must be able to safely navigate an active manufacturing facility
  • Exposure to typical manufacturing conditions, including noise, dust, temperature variation, machinery, moving equipment, and production activity
  • Required use of PPE when on the production floor
  • Standard business hours with occasional extended hours based on production demands
  • Occasional local travel may be required
