Manufacturing Planning Planner

Location West Chester OHCleveland-Cliffs Steel has an immediate opportunity for a Production Planner at our West Chester Ohio office.The Production Planner will generate the melt shop schedules for our steel making facilities in Mansfield Ohio and Butler Pennsylvania. The Planner is responsible for planning scheduling and coordinating the production activities within the units In Process Specification IPS and operational guidelines including any commercial or quality priority orders to ensure on time delivery of our steel products. This role requires strong coordination between Customer Service Priority Analysts Operations Quality Maintenance and LogisticsSummary of ResponsibilitiesReview actual production to determine variations from plan or schedule evaluate and implement appropriate changes to the next schedulesCommunicate special situationsinstructions to other planners operating personnel andor sales personnel as neededRecommend systems enhancement opportunities to improve schedule resultsFunction as an alternate point of contact for Sales and Quality personnel to accommodate material requiring special attention andor processingInform others of exceptionsproblems involving systems inventory or operating personnel whether resolved or in need of resolutionCreate special schedules as directed by Quality Operations or Research personnelContact appropriate personnel regarding material held for the purpose of expediting dispositionTravel to customers outside processors and other Cliffs facilities on an as needed basisDevelop and publish periodic planningprojection documentsWork as a team player to support the mutual goals and objectives of the Manufacturing Planning departmentSupport other Area Planners performing tasks professionally accurately on a timely basisInteract with other departments professionally courteously and informativelyAvailable for weekend after hours and holiday coverageOther duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsA Bachelors degree involving analytical skills or equivalent experienceProficiency using Microsoft Office and a strong proficiency in ExcelHighly motivated and possess strong analytical skillsPreferred QualificationsBachelors degree in Supply Chain Management Operations or EngineeringExperience in heavy manufacturingA basic working knowledge of steelmakingmaterial flow a plusRelocation assistance is not provided for this positionCleveland-Cliffs is a leading North America-based steel producer with focus on value-added sheet products particularly for the automotive industry.
