Position SummaryThe Prep Cook is responsible for preparing ingredients and following recipes to support daily food production. This includes measuring, weighing, and mixing ingredients accurately, maintaining detailed records, and operating equipment safely. Prep Cook plays a vital role in ensuring all food items meet Tucson Foods' quality, consistency, and food safety standards before moving into the next stage of production.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAccurately follow recipes, formulas, and batch instructions for food preparationWeigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to production needsRecord ingredient usage and maintain accurate documentation for HACCP and traceabilityOperate or assist with food production equipment as neededMaintain proper storage and rotation of ingredients (FIFO)Keep prep areas clean, organized, and compliant with sanitation standardsReport any inconsistencies, issues, or concerns with recipes, ingredients, or equipment to the Production SupervisorAssist with kitchen and equipment cleaning as scheduled or assignedSupport other team members and contribute to a smooth production flowPerform other duties as assigned by managementQualificationsRequired:Minimum 2 years of experience in food manufacturing, high-volume kitchen, or similar environmentFood Handlers licenseStrong attention to detail and accuracy in measuring and recordingAbility to follow written and verbal instructions consistentlyBasic math and reading comprehension skillsAbility to work independently and manage time efficientlyFamiliarity with food safety and sanitation practicesWillingness to operate or learn to operate kitchen and production equipmentMust have open availability, including the ability to work shifts that may begin as early as 6:00 AM Must maintain open availability for at least the first 6 months of employmentPreferred:Previous experience with HACCP protocols and documentationBilingual (English/Spanish) a plusPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs frequentlyMust be able to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periodsAbility to perform repetitive motions with hands and wristsComfortable working near moving machinery and in a busy production environmentWork EnvironmentThis position is based in a commercial food production facility with exposure to hot and cold environments, machinery, and frequent movement.
