Manufacturing Technician 2

PGS Worldwide is seeking a Manufacturing Technician in Hanover, MD for an approximately one-year onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This position will support aerospace panel assembly and consolidation operations, including honeycomb core preparation, adhesive bonding, vacuum bagging, and fabrication of flight hardware in accordance with engineering drawings and process specifications.

Required Skills

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 2 years of previous honeycomb panel fabrication or aerospace mechanical assembly experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience using hand tools and power machinery to process metals, composites, and wood.
• Good math and geometry skills.
• Ability to read and follow written manufacturing instructions and technical procedures.
• Ability to work on cure cart platens and above them on diving boards for brief periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work flexible schedules as needed to meet delivery dates.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety.
• U.S. citizenship required.

Preferred Skills

• Previous honeycomb panel fabrication experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
• Adhesive bonding and metal bonding experience.
• Experience with vacuum bagging.
• Experience handling and processing aluminum honeycomb core.
• Experience preparing and mixing epoxy and silicone adhesives for mechanical and thermal component installation in honeycomb panels.
• Experience working with thin metal facesheet material.
• Experience handling hazardous materials in accordance with OSHA and industry standards.
• Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
• Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.

What You’ll Do

• Perform aerospace panel consolidation and assembly operations.
• Prepare honeycomb core and perform film adhesive compaction.
• Apply foaming and expanding adhesives and perform adhesive mixing and bonding.
• Fill honeycomb core cells with adhesive.
• Perform vacuum bagging and compaction processes.
• Fabricate flight hardware using engineering drawings, work instructions, and process specifications while maintaining dimensional accuracy and workmanship requirements.
• Operate hand tools and power machinery used to process metals, composites, and wood.
• Support manufacturing setup and calibration activities alongside engineers.
• Perform rework and quality testing on parts, components, subassemblies, and final assemblies.
• Collect and evaluate operating data and make appropriate adjustments to products, instruments, or equipment.
• Support inspection, troubleshooting, and continuous process improvement activities.
• Work closely with lead technicians, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, supervisors, and program teams to meet production requirements and schedules.

Work Schedule / Shift

• 9/80A work schedule.
• Flexibility to work alternate schedules as needed to meet delivery dates.

Pay

$29.75 per hour.
