As a Manufacturing Technician - Optimus, you will help build the future of robotics on Tesla's Optimus production lines in Austin, TX. Working hands-on across highly automated assembly lines, you will be the go-to person who keeps processes running, responds rapidly when something goes wrong, and drives the improvements that turn a brand-new production system into a world-class operation.

Provide daily coverage of Optimus production line processes to ensure smooth, safe, and efficient operations, including a rapid response to out-of-control processes to minimize cost and maximize throughput
Lead disposition of non-conforming material produced by the production line and escalate as needed
Investigate and implement countermeasures to improve product yield, station uptime, and reduce aging WIP
Support Engineering and Manufacturing teams in improving and writing manufacturing instructions and rework procedures
Execute trials and analyze data under the direction of process engineers to qualify new processes, calibration procedures and equipment
Trial new parts and processes alongside the New Product Introduction (NPI) team and support Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiatives
Perform quality audits to proactively identify potential issues, partnering with the quality team
Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Production, Engineering, Quality, NPI, and Maintenance to enhance manufacturability, line productivity, and overall operational performance
Associate degree, technical certificate, or equivalent hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment
Passion for robotics, automation, and Tesla's mission - excited to help bring a brand-new product to scale
Proven ability to draw accurate conclusions from test data, malfunctions, or deviations, and assist with corrections to the existing process
Skilled with the use of a variety of hand and portable tools
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
Strong proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Experience with highly automated equipment, robotics, or precision/high-volume assembly a plus
Familiarity with 5S, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement methodologies a plus
Essential Physical Demands
Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day
Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours/day, including over varied and uneven terrain
Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 35 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs
Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach to install parts
Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours
Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures
Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing
Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: safety glasses, safety shoes, bump cap and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
