Job Summary

Under general supervision, the Manufacturing Test Technician performs a wide range of electro-mechanical activities, including equipment setup, calibration, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic and mechanical assemblies, subassemblies, and integrated systems used in manufacturing. This role follows established test specifications, procedures, engineering drawings, schematics, and blueprints to verify product performance and compliance with quality standards. The technician may assist with the selection, setup, and maintenance of specialized test equipment and fixtures to support production activities. The position requires the execution of electronic, mechanical, and functional testing processes in accordance with written Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and verbal guidance as part of the manufacturing team. This role supports multiple product lines manufactured in Oak Ridge and may involve cross-functional responsibilities across a variety of products ranging from Unmanned Aircraft Systems, Radiation Detection and Explosive Trace detection systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Testing and troubleshooting assemblies and final systems, performing rework and corrective actions as required, and documenting test results and technical findings.
  • Perform testing of mechanical parts, assemblies, and electronic components in accordance with manufacturing work instructions, process documentation, travelers, and engineering specifications.
  • Troubleshoot electronic and electro-mechanical systems using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, and other diagnostic tools to identify, isolate, and resolve issues.
  • Perform precision soldering and rework of electronic assemblies as required.
  • Conduct in-process and final inspections of subassemblies and completed products to verify compliance with quality and engineering requirements.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and validate completed instruments through established QA/QC processes and procedures.
  • Accurately complete production, quality, and test documentation to ensure full traceability and compliance.
  • Support Engineering with the assembly, integration, testing, and evaluation of prototype units and new product development activities.
  • Perform work in accordance with company quality standards, engineering specifications, safety requirements, and standard operating procedures.
  • Inspect, document, and verify completed assembly and test activities to ensure product conformity.
  • Meet production schedules and performance objectives while maintaining high standards of quality and workmanship.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with 5S and workplace safety practices.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on product quality, efficiency, and manufacturing processes.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
