GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

The Corporate Training Instructor is responsible for delivering technical training for manufacturing operators to ensure safe, efficient, and standardized operation of production equipment. This role provides hands-on instruction in pneumatic systems, mechanical fundamentals, machine operations, troubleshooting techniques, and preventive maintenance practices. The instructor evaluates trainee competency, promotes continuous improvement, and supports operational excellence in manufacturing facilities. This instructor is being hired as a contract trainer to provide instructional services and support Corporate Training initiatives. This position is part of the Corporate Training department within Continuing Education.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Deliver classroom and hands-on technical training for manufacturing operators.
• Instruct employees on pneumatic systems, mechanical fundamentals, equipment operation, and preventive maintenance practices.
• Teach and reinforce safe work practices, including lockout/tagout procedures and manufacturing safety requirements.
• Facilitate practical exercises, troubleshooting scenarios, and competency-based learning activities.
• Evaluate trainee knowledge, skills, and performance through hands-on assessments and demonstrations.
• Provide coaching and feedback to support employee skill development and job performance.
• Maintain accurate training records, certifications, and documentation.
• Demonstrate proper use of tools, equipment, measuring devices, and maintenance techniques.
• Train employees on standard operating procedures, production workflows, equipment startup/shutdown, and changeover processes.
• Teach troubleshooting and root cause analysis methods to improve operational effectiveness.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and promote operational excellence.
• Collaborate with supervisors, managers, and stakeholders to identify training needs and improve training effectiveness.
• Maintain and update training materials, curriculum, and instructional resources.
• Serve as a technical resource and subject matter expert for manufacturing operations and maintenance fundamentals.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:

• Deliver high-quality, engaging technical training that meets established learning objectives.
• Ensure trainees demonstrate competency in pneumatic systems, mechanical fundamentals, equipment operation, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance practices.
• Maintain a safe training environment and consistently reinforce safety policies, procedures, and lockout/tagout requirements.
• Achieve satisfactory trainee completion, assessment, and certification outcomes.
• Accurately complete and maintain all training records, evaluations, and required documentation in a timely manner.
• Effectively communicate technical concepts to learners with varying levels of manufacturing experience and skill.
• Provide timely coaching, feedback, and support to improve trainee performance and confidence.
• Demonstrate technical expertise and serve as a knowledgeable resource for manufacturing operators and stakeholders.
• Build positive working relationships with trainees, supervisors, and operational leaders.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve training content, delivery methods, and learner outcomes.
• Support operational excellence by promoting standardized work practices, problem-solving, and continuous improvement principles.
• Maintain current knowledge of manufacturing processes, safety requirements, and technical training best practices.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing. The position involves occasional (10-33%) driving to events and meetings away from KCC's main campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• 2 years industry experience or teaching experience
• Previous training, coaching, or instructional experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of pneumatic systems, mechanical power transmission, bearings, drilling, tapping, and torque applications.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to employees with varying skill levels.
• Proficiency in presentations skills and delivery.
• Knowledge of safety regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and manufacturing best practices.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:

• Associate degree Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Technology, or related field preferred or 2 years industry experience.
• Previous training, coaching, or instructional experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of pneumatic systems, mechanical power transmission, bearings, drilling, tapping, and torque applications.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to employees with varying skill levels.
• Proficiency in presentations skills and delivery.
• Knowledge of safety regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and manufacturing best practices.
