We are hiring Fitter/Welders of all skill levels — from developing welders looking to advance their careers to experienced shipyard craftsmen. With hands-on training, mentorship, and welding qualification opportunities available, you'll have the opportunity to strengthen your skills and grow within a skilled fabrication environment.

What You'll Do

  • Fit and tack steel components in preparation for final welding
  • Perform FCAW production welding on heavy steel assemblies
  • Weld structural steel in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions
  • Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings
  • Perform layout, measurements, and fit-up work
  • Set up and operate welding equipment safely and efficiently
  • Inspect welds to ensure quality and specification compliance
  • Remove slag, grind, and finish welds as needed
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of welding equipment
  • Work safely while maintaining quality production standards
  • Collaborate with experienced welders, fitters, and foremen

Welding Qualification Tests

Qualified candidates must be able to pass welding certification tests, including:

  • 1" Plate Fillet Weld Tests
    • 2G Position
    • 3G Position
    • 4G Position
  • 1" Plate Groove Weld Tests
    • 2G Position
    • 3G Position
    • 4G Position

Candidates with previous shipyard certifications or structural welding qualifications are highly encouraged to apply.

What You Bring

  • Welding or fabrication experience preferred (entry-level welders with strong mechanical ability encouraged to apply)
  • Ability to learn and perform Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW)
  • Experience with structural steel, heavy fabrication, or industrial manufacturing preferred
  • Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math/fractions
  • Blueprint reading and layout experience preferred
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
