This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s locations: The Madison Club, located in La Quinta, California.

The Madison Club is seeking a Market Cook to join the Culinary Department.

The Market Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting high-quality menu items in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining food safety, quality, and operational standards. This role ensures stations are fully stocked and prepared for service, executes orders accurately and efficiently, supports inventory management, and assists in training kitchen staff. The Market Cook works closely with other kitchen team members to deliver exceptional food and service.

The Madison Club is open during the winter & spring season, and this role will be for a full time, seasonal need from October- June.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and stock stations before service with ingredients, tools, and supplies 
• Prepare food by cutting, chopping, mixing, and making sauces or dressings
• Cook menu items (Prepare and bake pizzas) to recipe specifications, portion sizes, and presentation standards 
• Plate to go dishes according to the head chef’s guidance 
• Execute orders from the ticket rail or kitchen display system (KDS) accurately and on time.
• Maintain cleanliness of the station, utensils, and work areas; comply with food safety and sanitation regulations 
• Monitor quality of ingredients and finished products; report shortages or issues 
• Collaborate with expeditors, lead cooks, and other station staff to ensure timely service 

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a line cook, pizza cook, prep cook, or similar culinary position preferred.
• Knowledge of pizza preparation, baking techniques, and food preparation methods.
• Food Handlers Certification required within 7 days of hire.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Understanding food safety, sanitation, and ServSafe practices.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality standards.
• Ability to follow recipes, procedures, and verbal instructions accurately.

• Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.
• Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
• Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.

The Company’s good faith estimate of the hourly rate it expects to pay for this role is $23 - $25 and is based on applicable and specialized experience and location.
