Marketing and Operations Coordinator

DSU is seeking a Marketing and Operations Coordinator. The Marketing and Operations Coordinator oversees daily office operations, manages departmental budgets, coordinates communications between teams, and directs student creators. A key component of this role is supervising a team of student workers who handle the execution of university social media content, digital campaigns, event photography, and videography. This role provides critical administrative support to the office and facilitates team workflows.

COMPENSATION
$45,000-55,000 annually, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
Student Team Leadership & Creative Delegation
Supervise Student Workers: Oversee student workers, interns, graduate assistants, and part-time help as needed on various tasks across the team.
Oversee Creative Execution: Direct the student team in producing engaging digital content, including short-form reels, stories, graphics, and written copy.
Manage Event Coverage: Coordinate student worker schedules to ensure comprehensive photography and videography coverage for admissions events, student activities, athletics, and university programs.
Quality Control: Serve as a reviewer for student-created multimedia, ensuring all assets align with Dickinson State University brand standards, accessibility guidelines, community expectations, and institutional priorities before distribution.
Office Administration & Operations
Manage daily office schedules, organize departmental calendars, and track project milestones.
Track and manage marketing and communication project deadlines to ensure timely delivery of departmental goals.
Assist in developing and implementing office policies and procedures, establishing efficient methods for the presentation of programs, services, campaigns, and events.
Assist the team with ongoing administrative tasks, executive support, workflow optimization, and special projects.
Utilize Outlook for scheduling meetings, appointments, personal leave, and departmental calendars as directed.
Financial & Budget Tracking
Monitor departmental expenses, process invoices, and log vendor payments.
Assist in tracking and reconciling the departmental budget (Note: The Department Director maintains final approval of expenditures, reimbursements, contractor pay, and software subscriptions).
Public Relations & Website Content
Oversee content and design for monthly university electronic publications.
Manage the DSU News Section on Website.
Work directly with students, faculty, staff, and administration to gain insight into possible news and feature stories.
Compile and distribute internal and external communication pieces to appropriate platforms including media core, blogs, social media, and digital newsletters.
Develop positive relationships with university students, faculty, staff, and leadership to demonstrate goodwill.
Social Media Strategy & Crisis Communications
Manage the strategic direction of the Universitys primary social media accounts while serving as a reference for other University-affiliated accounts.
Manage all published content including images, video, graphics, and written copy.
Develop and execute digital social media campaigns as needed across a variety of platforms.
Serve as a primary party responsible for facilitating the development and distribution of multimedia for social networks, community engagement, and beyond.
Monitor, listen, and respond to users in a timely, professional, and social way to cultivate engagement.
Serve as a member of DSUs crisis communication team by managing and monitoring social media channels during crisis events (which may include work after normal business hours, holidays, scheduled time off, and weekends).
Compile analytics reports and monitor benchmarks to measure campaign impact and inform the decision making of the Vice President, team members in the Office of Marketing and Communications, the Director of Admissions, and key stakeholders.
Digital Recruitment & Advertising
Manage targeted social ad campaigns and promotions across platforms such as Meta, Google, LinkedIn, and YouTube on time and within budget.
Collaborate with the Office of Admissions to align messaging, campaign timing, demographic targeting, and student journey phases.
Assist in developing landing pages and email marketing workflows that drive inquiries and lead conversion.
Track campaign performance using analytics tools, review effectiveness, gather market research, and adjust strategies to maximize results.
Service to the University & Events
Assist with Office of Marketing and Communications special projects.
Develop positive relationships with community members, local groups, civic organizations, and alumni to foster goodwill toward the University.
Serve on DSU work groups, task forces, hiring committees, and advisory boards as assigned.
Participate in team meetings, departmental meetings, cross-campus trainings, and professional development opportunities.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
Strong command of the Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe Express, Premiere Pro), Canva, and web content platforms.
Excellent time management skills, strong attention to detail, proactive problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to juggle multiple project deadlines simultaneously.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to effectively delegate tasks, provide constructive feedback to student creators, manage vendor expectations, and represent the University with professionalism.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree or higher in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or Business Administration, or related field
Minimum of three (3) years experience in office administration, marketing, business management, or higher education.
Experience managing staff, interns, or student workers.
Familiarity with video editing software.
