ABOUT GROH PLAYROOMS

Groh Playrooms is a DMV-area interior design studio specializing in playrooms and learning spaces — founded by educators who believe children's environments deserve the same design rigor as any other room in the home. We partner with families to create spaces that are as thoughtful and well-crafted as they are joyful.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Marketing Copywriter owns the written voice of Groh Playrooms across every channel our clients and audience encounter: our website, email, social, and every piece of collateral in between. This role provides all copy for our new website build and takes ongoing ownership of maintaining that copy going forward, alongside writing for Substack, LinkedIn, social posts, email campaigns, blog content, marketing collateral, and downloadable resources. This is more than an execution role: we want someone who understands marketing and creative strategy; 360-degree campaigns, the consumer lifecycle, and how copy fits into the bigger picture - and who will help inform that strategy, not just write a brief. You'll work closely with the Director of Marketing to keep our voice consistent, our content calendar moving, and our brand showing up with the same care in writing that it does in every room we design.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Write and structure all copy for Groh Playrooms' new website build, working alongside the designer/developer building the site
  • Own and update website copy on an ongoing basis as content, offerings, and pages evolve
  • Build and maintain Groh Playrooms' Substack newsletter, including establishing its format and cadence, and writing and publishing regular content
  • Write copy for LinkedIn and social posts across platforms
  • Write and manage copy for email campaigns and sequences
  • Write blog posts that support our brand voice and SEO presence
  • Develop copy for marketing collateral: print and digital assets alike
  • Write copy for downloadable resources (guides, checklists, and similar assets)
  • Co-own our voice and tone/usage guidelines with the Director of Marketing, and keep them updated as our voice develops
  • Maintain a consistent brand voice across every channel and format
  • Partner with the Director of Marketing on content calendar planning and priorities, and help inform broader marketing and creative strategy

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

Required

  • A strong writing portfolio spanning multiple formats: web, email, social, and long-form
  • Demonstrated experience writing both short, performance-based copy and long-form copy
  • Understanding of how to write for each platform’s audience: what works on Instagram, Pinterest and TikTok, and how voice, format, and hooks change between them
  • Ability to read performance data and act on them, including A/B testing, to adjust copy and strategy.
  • Experience writing and structuring copy for a website, ideally alongside a designer or developer handling the build
  • Comfort updating content directly in a website CMS (e.g., Squarespace, Webflow, Shopify, WordPress) for ongoing maintenance
  • Comfort managing multiple channels and content types at once without losing consistency
  • A sharp sense of brand voice, and the discipline to keep it consistent across formats
  • Self-directed, deadline-driven work habits

Nice to Have

  • Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Klaviyo or similar)
  • Working knowledge of SEO best practices for web and blog content
  • Experience writing for a children's, luxury, or lifestyle brand
  • Basic graphic design skills (e.g., Canva) to support collateral production

WHY GROH PLAYROOMS

  • Real ownership over the brand's voice and website, from buildout through day-to-day upkeep
  • Health benefits, PTO, and 401(k): details shared during the interview process
  • A tight-knit team that builds close relationships — with each other and with the families we design for
  • A studio driven by the next generation — kids are who we design for, and their sense of wonder shapes everything we make
  • Work that stays genuinely fun: you'll spend your days surrounded by color, materials, and rooms built for imagination
