AWS Marketing is seeking a strategic, technically proficient, and customer-embedded Marketing Technology & Operations Manager to support the Events, Sports, and Sponsorship (ESS) team. Modeled after the Forward Deployed Engineer concept, this role is designed to be deeply embedded with ESS sub-teams - sitting alongside stakeholders to understand their workflows firsthand and identify/build custom solutions that solve real operational problems.

This role is responsible for managing cross-functional operational programs including application security compliance, ESS' marketing technology strategy and administration, digital asset management, and workflow automation - all with a focus on being AI-native wherever possible. The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity, can manage multiple concurrent workstreams, and is passionate about building scalable processes that are simplified and automated.

You will serve as the embedded technical partner for teams across Events, Sports, and Sponsorship - ensuring security compliance, tooling strategy, roadmap execution, and workflow efficiency. This role will partner cross-Marketing as well, partnering with Events Technology, Marketer Experience, Data Science & Engineering etc. Unlike a traditional program manager who operates at a distance, you will deploy directly to teams, observe pain points in real time, prototype solutions rapidly, and iterate based on immediate feedback. This role requires a balance of technical acumen, stakeholder management, an incredible ability to Invent and Simplify, and a Bias for Action to drive operational excellence across a complex marketing organization.

Key job responsibilities

Tooling Strategy & Automation (Primary Focus)

  • Create and own the technology tooling roadmap for the ESS organization, focusing on efficiency, scale, and evaluation of buy vs. build trade-offs with an AI-first approach
  • Optimize marketing technology tools based on ESS' needs including Airtable, Amazon S3, Asana, Workfront, Quick, SharePoint, Highspot, DAM/MAM, Box,- building SOPs, managing access requests, configuring automations, and driving workflow optimization
  • Design and implement workflow automations and API integrations between platforms (e.g., Airtable Opus OASYS, reporting APIs to QuickSight)
  • Identify and deploy agentic tools across the ESS business (e.g., agents, MCPs, connectors, skills, Slack bots) to reduce manual workload, integrate systems, and improve team self-service capabilities
  • Own continued tooling and workflow evaluations; develop and introduce new workflows to enhance team productivity

Forward Deployed Engineering & Embedded Solutions

  • Embed directly with ESS sub-teams (Events, Sports, Sponsorships) through rotational assignments, office hours, and on-demand sprints - observing workflows, surfacing automation opportunities, and delivering hands-on technical enablement
  • Rapidly prototype, ship, and iterate on custom solutions (skills, agents, connectors, dashboards, Slack bots, data pipelines) with a bias toward MVPs in days, not weeks - owning each solution from discovery through documentation and ongoing support
  • Serve as the technical bridge between ESS teams and centralized Marketing Technology partners, translating business needs into technical requirements and advocating for scalable, extensible solutions
  • Build bespoke internal tools, agents, and skills tailored to specific team workflows that would not otherwise be prioritized on a central roadmap (e.g., Airtable automations, QuickSight dashboards, custom integrations)
  • Champion technical self-service by training non-technical team members on low-code platforms, AI assistants, and internal tooling

Security & Compliance

  • Own and manage the end-to-end third-party Application Security (AppSec) review process for the ESS team, including ticket submissions, vendor relationships, compliance monitoring, security reviews, and close partnership with Marketing Security (MarSec) teams
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for AppSec requirements, proactively managing renewal timelines and advising internal stakeholders on compliance obligations

Content & Data Operations

  • Own documentation and knowledge graph strategy across ESS, with a focus on ensuring files and data are structured for seamless utilization by agentic tools and AI workflows
  • Drive site maintenance and content redesign for ESS Team SharePoint and Wiki pages
  • Manage data migration projects (e.g., Quip to SharePoint) and coordinate with platform migration POCs
  • Ensure data architectures and information taxonomies align with the broader Strategy &Ops team to enable both human and AI consumption

Amazon.com Inc

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
