About the role

Simple Modern is hiring a Mass Retail Account Manager to own day-to-day relationships with an assigned portfolio of mass retail partners. Partnering closely with the Director on configuration, pricing, and assortment strategy, the Account Manager identifies new program opportunities, builds offers, manages buyer communication, and secures program commitments. Once a retailer commits, the Account Manager hands the program to the Sales Operations Specialist for execution and remains the retailer's primary point of contact through delivery. This is a high-impact role. The Account Manager leads negotiations with demanding retail partners, and the outcomes carry significant implications for the business. The position is fast-paced and demands sharp thinking, persistence, and the ability to manage multiple programs and priorities at once. It suits a sales professional who is excited to negotiate with tough clients, thinks quickly on their feet, builds strong buyer relationships, brings a solid command of retail math, and works well within a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for buyers at assigned retail partners, including ongoing communication, retailer meetings, and preparation of meeting materials
• Identify new program opportunities within each retailer
• Curate design assortments with internal teams and build compelling offers
• Secure program commitments and prepare internal briefs
• Surface and execute promotional opportunities
• Coordinate with internal teams to manage live programs, including inventory positioning and markdown negotiations with retailers
• Serve as admin on retailer portals and communicate product details to retail partners
• Keep a clean, current view of the mass retail pipeline using AI-supported tools
• Understand and speak to portfolio performance

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• Account management or sales experience with national accounts
• Proven ability to build relationships with national buyers and secure commitments
• Strong working knowledge of retail math: margin, cost, retail pricing, and promotions
• Excellent written, presentation, and negotiation skills
• Comfortable learning and using AI tools as part of daily work
• Sharp analytical thinker who learns quickly
• Persistent and resourceful in solving problems and pushing programs forward
• Thrives in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities

Preferred

• Experience with mass retail systems
• Omni-channel experience in physical retail and e-commerce
