    Description

Leidos is seeking Material Analysts to join our Antarctic Support Contract (ASC) team in support of the United States Antarctic Program. The planning and implementation of science support requirements in Antarctica is a critical part of our mission, and every team member plays a crucial role.

** Due to contract requirements, US Citizenship is required and MUST obtain a Public Trust security clearance prior to start date.

    About the Antarctic Support Contract

Leidos Antarctic Support Contract (ASC) is the prime contractor to the National Science Foundation (NSF) in support of the United States Antarctic Program (USAP). Leidos supports the NSF’s Office of Polar Program’s Antarctic Infrastructure and Logistics and provides science and logistics support for approximately 150 science and technical events across three geographically remote research stations; McMurdo Station, Palmer Station, and South Pole Station and several deep field sites across Antarctica. Each station or field site supports world class research across multiple science disciplines.

The Material Analyst is responsible for two main duties: maintaining the program’s master materials inventory database in the system of record, (IBM Maximo software program), and reviewing item activity data, adjusting stock levels, and determining replenishment requirements for both Central Material Planning (CMP) and other ASC Functional Areas (FA). This position partners with cross-functional departments to review, analyze, and maintain item master data integrity in Maximo to ensure continuity of procurement workflow. Assignments include inventory demand planning, strategic analysis and rebalancing of inventory, process improvement initiatives, reviewing materials requisitions, and support of field operations in multiple global locations.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Monitor data integrity, manage data quality control, and record standardization. Perform data validation and integrity checks within the Maximo database. Analyze new material requisitions for accuracy and completeness prior to processing new item master record creation.

    • Identify item master records to be labeled as capital equipment, create manufacturer company records, and assign spare parts to National Science Foundation (NSF) tagged asset records. Assign spare parts to asset records and classify records as hazardous materials, medical supplies, or adds special handling specifications.

    • Create and maintain shipping and vendor company records. Upload product pictures and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) to the item master record. Update part numbers and pricing.

    • Review CMP and FA line-item inventory activity data, adjust stock level objectives, determine replenishment of requirements, and initiate procurements to meet demand for operating inventory levels.

    • Collect, process, and maintain supply chain data to produce program-level reports and performance metrics. Use findings to identify and mitigate programmatic challenges and establish reorder points and minimum and maximum inventory levels.

    • Monitor external conditions and internal trends to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats affecting program supply activities.

    • Identify, evaluate, and develop cost-effective procedures that support business objectives. Recommend improvements to new and existing material management processes.

    • Analyze and track end-to-end CMP and FA material management activities, including the movement of materials among requestors, approvers, buyers, vendors, freight forwarders, receiving hubs, and final receiving sites.

    • Confirm that materials are delivered by vendors, properly received by freight forwarders and receiving locations, and accurately documented. Ensure receipts and CMP expenses are reflected in the appropriate departmental budget trackers.

    • Promote database policies and procedures across functional departments and provide training to support consistent and compliant use of Maximo.

    • Maintain daily communication and actively liaise with functional departments across multiple locations to understand operational needs, challenges, and goals.

    • Participate in the Maximo Process Review Board (MPRB) to improve IBM Maximo master data. Contribute to system-related projects and create effective policies to support program processes.

    • Follow established security procedures to protect database integrity, prevent unauthorized access, and minimize the risk of data loss or compromise.

    • Participate in annual document reviews and create or update material management procedures to improve customer satisfaction, operational effectiveness, and cost efficiency.

    • Provide leadership, guidance, and technical support to junior analysts, Inventory Data Specialists, and procurement planners, as needed.

    • Develop and deliver role-specific Maximo training for newly hired Logistics personnel and annual refresher training for deploying personnel.

    • Meet established deadlines while consistently producing accurate, complete, and high-quality deliverables.

    Required/Qualifications

    • Associate’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Business Administration from an accredited university with at least six (6+) years of experience in Supply Chain or Logistics; or equivalent military or civilian training in logistics with at least eight (8+) years of experience.

    • US Citizenship, contract requirement.

    • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance.

    • Experience with IBM MAXIMO inventory / materials management software experience is critical.

    • Ability to multi-task effectively, prioritize, and execute against multiple priorities.

    • Advanced knowledge of databases and spreadsheets; excellent data entry skills.

    • Strong organizational skills.

    • Strong analytical and methodical skills.

    • In-depth familiarity with logistics documentation, including best practices for processing and maintaining logistics documents. Advanced-level experience and skills operating MS Office Suite.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Foundational and theoretical understanding of general Supply Chain and Logistics principles.

    • Experience working with stock records, such as inventory, material control, accounting, and supply metrics.

    • Understanding of basic supply functions, including shipping, receiving, storing, issuing, stock control, hazardous materials (HAZMAT), and procurement procedures.

    • Remote / long-distance supply chain experience a plus.
