    We are seeking a Material Handler to join our team in Hickory, NC!

    Job Summary:

    The Material Handler will work under the direction of the Operations Mgr.  The Material Handler will be responsible for assisting in the organization and monitoring of inventory, both physical inventory on the shop floor and associated inventory systems.

    Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

    Production Support:

    • Prepares work by gathering necessary materials and reviewing work orders

    • Pull, verify, and stage materials for production work orders

    • Review assembly carts daily; restock materials and update inventory systems as needed

    • Print labels and support production requirements

    Material Flow Management:

    • Move materials through all stages of production

      •  (receiving WIP finished goods)

    • Ensure accurate system transactions for all material movements

    • Performs part inspection according to approved SOPs

    • Uses counting scales for bulk receiving, re-labeling, and re-boxing

    Shipping Support:

    • Pick and stage materials for shipping based on pick lists

    Inventory Control:

    • Perform cycle counts and assist with physical inventories

    • Identify and report inventory discrepancies

    • Maintain accurate inventory through proper transactions and handling

    Consumables Management:

    • Monitor consumable inventory levels weekly

    • Submit replenishment requests as needed

    General Duties:

    • Operate material handling equipment safely

    • Maintain organization and cleanliness in all areas

    • Support additional operational needs as required

    Experiences/Skills Required:

    • Must have the ability to work in a team atmosphere to obtain common goals and objectives

    • Demonstrates effective listening skills

    • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow verbal and written instructions

    • Ability to meet deadlines, concentrate, and pay close attention to detail

    • Adaptability and willingness to perform all given duties

    • Strong safety orientation; perform all tasks in a safe and responsible manner

    • Basic understanding of conventional measuring tools and techniques

    • Must be able to multi-task

    • Excellent hand-eye coordination

    • Forklift experience preferred

    Requirements

    • High school diploma or GED equivalent

    • Manufacturing experience preferred

    Physical Requirements

    • Production environment: dust and grease are common. Significant risks from equipment and the environment require constant care and vigilance

    • Must be able to stand for long periods of time and carry up to 50+ lbs

    • Regularly required to use hands and hand tools to handle materials and reach with hands and arms

    This role works Monday-Thursday 6:00am-4:30pm.

    Pay Range: $18-21/hr

    This is a temp-to-hire role and will require 520 hours of contract work through our associated agency.
