    Your role:

    Position Summary

    The Material Handler II provides advanced material handling and inventory control support for dry blend manufacturing operations at the Columbus, Georgia facility. This role is responsible for the safe receipt, storage, movement, staging, inventory management, and shipment of raw materials, packaging components, and finished goods while ensuring compliance with GMP, food safety, quality, and safety requirements.

    As a senior-level material handling role, the Material Handler II serves as an experienced resource within the department by applying advanced knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory systems, material flow processes, production requirements, and site procedures. This position supports inventory accuracy, warehouse organization, process improvements, and training of less experienced team members to ensure efficient and reliable operations.

    Essential Responsibilities

    • Perform all responsibilities of the Material Handler I position.
    • Coordinate and prioritize material staging activities to support production schedules and operational requirements.
    • Execute advanced inventory control processes to ensure inventory accuracy and traceability.
    • Perform and review SAP or ERP inventory transactions, material movements, adjustments, and reconciliations.
    • Monitor and maintain FIFO inventory practices and lot control requirements.
    • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve inventory discrepancies and material variances.
    • Support warehouse organization, slotting strategies, and material flow improvements.
    • Assist with cycle count programs and physical inventory activities.
    • Coordinate movement of materials between receiving, warehouse, production, and shipping functions.
    • Verify the accuracy of receiving, inventory, shipping, and production support documentation.
    • Train and mentor new Material Handlers on site procedures, material handling practices, GMP requirements, and safe equipment operation.
    • Serve as a resource for inventory questions, material location issues, and warehouse process guidance.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, productivity, inventory accuracy, and operational efficiency.
    • Assist supervision with problem resolution, process standardization, and implementation of best practices.
    • Maintain compliance with GMP, food safety, quality, OSHA, and company safety procedures.

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
    • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach throughout the workday.
    • Ability to operate forklifts and other powered industrial vehicles.
    • Ability to work in a manufacturing and warehouse environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.

    Work Schedule

    • 1st shift, Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day.
    • Overtime may be required based on business needs.

    About you:

    Qualifications

    Required

    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • Three or more years of warehouse, logistics, inventory control, or material handling experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • Two or more years of forklift operation experience.
    • Experience performing inventory transactions within an ERP system such as SAP.
    • Strong understanding of inventory management, material flow, FIFO principles, and warehouse operations.
    • Ability to interpret production schedules, inventory reports, and operational documents.
    • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

    Preferred

    • Experience within food, ingredient, dry blend, chemical, or regulated manufacturing environments.
    • Previous experience training or mentoring employees.
    • Knowledge of SAP inventory management processes.
    • Experience participating in inventory audits, cycle count programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
