Position Title: Materials ManagerDepartment: Supply ChainLocation: St. Louis Metro Area & multi-site operationsReports To: Strategic Sourcing ManagerTravel: Up to 20% travel to company facilities and supplier/service-provider locationsClassification: Salary- Exempt  Position Summary:Control Devices is seeking a hands-on, results-oriented Materials Manager to lead two critical supply chain functions: Materials Management and Transportation & Logistics. This role will initially divide its focus between leading receiving, warehousing, and inventory management operations across multiple manufacturing facilities and managing and optimizing the company's transportation and logistics programs.A key near-term objective will be to evaluate the company's existing transportation and logistics network, lead a strategic sourcing initiative for transportation and logistics services, and implement improvements that enhance cost competitiveness, service performance, visibility, and scalability.As transportation and logistics processes mature, the role is expected to evolve toward broader leadership of materials management processes, systems, and best practices across multiple sites while retaining ownership of transportation and logistics business processes, systems, and strategic service-provider relationships. Key Responsibilities:Materials Management Functional LeaderLead receiving, warehousing, and inventory management operations for show multi-site manufacturing operationsProvide direct leadership, coaching, and development for materials personnel.Evaluate materials management processes, organizational structures, systems, and workflows to identify improvement, standardization, and optimization opportunities.Evaluate and maintain inventory control processes that ensure high inventory accuracy, including cycle counting, reconciliation, and root-cause analysis of variances.Drive reduction of excess, slow-moving, and obsolete inventory (OSMI).Support production, purchasing, and planning through effective material-flow management.Develop and implement standard processes, metrics, and best practices for receiving, warehousing, inventory management, and material handling across sites.Partner with Operations, Procurement, Planning, and Finance to improve inventory performance, material availability, operational efficiency, and working-capital utilization.Support implementation, optimization, and standardization of materials management systems and processes across additional facilities.Lead continuous improvement focused on inventory accuracy, warehouse efficiency, material flow, transaction discipline, and overall supply chain performance.Transportation & Logistics Program OwnerLead transportation and logistics sourcing initiatives to optimize cost, service, and provider performance across multiple sites.Manage relationships and performance of third-party logistics providers (3PLs) supporting domestic and international inbound transportation.Coordinate with logistics providers, customs brokers, and trade compliance partners to ensure reliable material flow and regulatory compliance.Serve as business process owner for the Transportation Management System (TMS).Serve as process owner for Freight Audit & Pay activities and provider management.Establish and maintain HTS classifications and support import compliance activities.Manage freight claims, service issues, and logistics-related exception resolution.Develop and monitor transportation KPIs, provider scorecards, and service-level performance.Identify and implement transportation cost, service, visibility, and reliability improvements.Support continuous improvement of transportation and logistics processes, systems, and reporting.Leadership ResponsibilitiesProvide direct leadership, coaching, and development for materials personnel supporting two St. Louis-area manufacturing facilities.Establish performance expectations and drive accountability across receiving, warehousing, and inventory management functions.Promote a culture of safety, continuous improvement, inventory accuracy, and operational excellence.Partner with Operations, Procurement, Planning, Finance, and other functional leaders to improve supply chain performance and execution.Provide functional leadership and influence across other company locations as materials management, transportation, and logistics processes become increasingly standardized. Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, Engineering, or a related field preferred.7+ years of progressive experience in materials management, transportation, logistics, or supply chain operations.Experience in manufacturing and/or distribution warehouse environments; multi-site experience preferred.Demonstrated expertise in domestic transportation, international logistics, customs processes, HTS classifications, provider management, and oversight of 3PLs, customs brokers, and transportation service providers.Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), ERP systems, and inventory management processes.Demonstrated leadership experience managing and developing teams in a manufacturing environment.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and continuous improvement skills.APICS/ASCM CLTD, CPIM, or similar professional certifications are a plus. Opportunity:This position offers a unique opportunity to influence both the physical flow of materials and the inbound transportation network supporting the business.
