We are looking for a talented Materials Technician to join our team specializing in Logistics for our Cummins Inc. facility in Maxton, NC .
Job Summary:
Under direct or close supervision, follow established procedures and guidelines to receive, handle, store, perform system transactions and dispatch goods in a factory or warehouse. Receive incoming goods; check for damage and for discrepancies between goods and invoices. Accurately sort, label, and store goods; arrange storage to optimize warehouse space. Pick, pack, and dispatch outgoing goods according to written or verbal requests or orders.

Responsibilities - Essential functions:
Enforce and/or build disciplines to maintain plant/corporate expectations for policies and procedures, safety, housekeeping (5S) & environmental (ISO 14001); quality (QS/TS); HR, production, IT, finance, materials, maintenance and engineering while achieving or exceeding the Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost goals.
Cross train and learn all functions and processes within Materials.
Provide resource backup for other functions within the Materials team.
Provide support on projects as required.
Assist team in meeting all daily schedules on time within Receiving, Warehouse, Packaging and Shipping.
Minimize non-value-added processes, scrap and other manufacturing expenses including excessive overtime.
Maintain accurate process documentation and controls.
Work to continually achieve inventory accuracy, delivery and materials performance goals.
Will perform other duties as assigned by supervision.
High School diploma or equivalent
Knowledge and experience with Oracle is a plus.
Computer skills are required
Fork Lift license and experience
Must be physically fit and able to lift, pick/pull and package parts
Experience with Material system transactions is an advantage
Demonstrate a high degree of accuracy in performing tasks
Self-motivated to take actions that achieve the goals of the department
Good verbal and written communication skills
Ability to learn and understand materials transactions and impact to the plant operation
Willing to train, help and work with others in a team-based environment
Be able to work overtime and different shifts if required
Excellent attendance and time management
Ability to give and receive feedback
Must be able to access all areas of the facility and meet other physical requirements of the position and work scheduled overtime.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Must also be able to lift at least 40 pounds and spend long hours on their feet.
