POSITION: 1.0 High School Math Interventionist REPORTS TO: Building Principal/ Math Curriculum Supervisor

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1) Certificate Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate 2) Endorsement(s) EX or EQ required or equivalent intervention endorsement Grade Level 9-12 3) Education Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Secondary Education, or a related field.

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum 3 years of teaching experience in high school or middle school mathematics (required)
• Strong understanding of Michigan high school Math standards, MTSS frameworks, and formative assessment tools (highly preferred)
• Experience with explicit instruction and concrete-representational-abstract (CRA) teaching frameworks.
• Familiarity with digital math intervention platforms (e.g., IXL).

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Math Interventionist delivers small-group and individualized instruction to students performing below grade level in mathematics. You will use data-driven strategies to identify specific skill deficits, track student progress, and collaborate closely with classroom math teachers and the student support team to ensure aligned instruction. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Deliver evidence-based math interventions in small groups or 1-on-1 settings (pull-out or push-in models).
• Focus on foundational skills critical to high school success, particularly foundational arithmetic, algebraic thinking, and problem-solving strategies.
• Help students build positive math mindsets, reduce math anxiety, and encourage persistent problem - solving.
• Administer diagnostic assessments and monitor student progress using data tools (e.g., NWEA, i -Ready, Common Assessments, or local benchmarks).
• Regularly analyze progress data to adjust interventions, grouping strategies, and instructional techniques.
• Maintain accurate records of intervention plans, student attendance, and progress logs for Multi -Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) documentation.
• Partner with general education math teachers to align intervention content with current classroom topics and standards.
• Participate in MTSS team meetings to discuss student growth, recommend tier placements, or suggest referrals when appropriate.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student growth, strategies, and success milestones.
• Implements instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences.
• Identifies, selects, and modifies instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.
• Assists in assessing changing curricular needs and offers plans for improvement.
