MANTECH seeks a self-motivated, career and customer-oriented Modeling and Simulation, Combat Forces Assessment Model (CFAM) Specialist. This is an onsite position performing Modeling & Simulation (M&S) functions at AF/A5/7 Global Munitions at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA.
In this role, you will be part of a team responsible for the development and reporting of Air Force Munitions Requirements in support of the DoW Munitions Requirements Process (MRP). This includes running the Combat Forces Assessment Model (CFAM) while conducting campaign-level analysis. (Note that CFAM is a deterministic, goal programming model used to develop AF weapons requirements.) You will be a key player in M&S functions and data analysis through designing, developing and presenting results of theater level analysis as prescribed.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assist in the development of Air Force munitions requirements, working directly with theater planners, headquarters staff, and the acquisitions community to develop the optimal mix of munitions needed to support National Defense priorities and objectives.
Conduct and participate in long-term analytical studies as well as quick-turn analyses and assessments using a variety of tools and techniques to include qualitative, spreadsheet, and computer simulation-based analyses.Leading and assisting in the development of analysis plans for trade-off studies of Air Force munitions requirements, modernization, and new acquisitions. Typical studies include munitions capability, requirements, and inventory analyses. Additional studies include munitions acquisition analyses, and inclusion on future aircraft munitions carriage.
Using available data, subject matter expert knowledge, and best judgement, create and maintain input data for Combat Forces Assessment Model (CFAM). Run CFAM and analyse CFAM input and output data using multiple Excel spreadsheets and Access databases to verify and validate the results. Develop analytical tools as necessary to improve the weapons requirements development process.
Communicate highly technical analysis of CFAM output to include insights, conclusions, and recommendations in written documents and verbal briefings for review by Air Force decision makers.
Lead and assist in the development of analysis plans for trade-o studies of Air Force munitions requirements, modernization, and new acquisitions. Typical studies include munitions capability, requirements, and inventory analyses.
Attend and participate in meetings both locally and at other locations as a subject matter expert on CFAM, air combat analysis, and AF/A5/7 analytic capability
Complete computer-based and in person training as required by the government and company policy
Travel 8-12 weeks within the continental United States and overseas to include Hawaii, Germany, and South Korea.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Operations Research, or related engineering and 5+ years of modeling and simulation experience
Experience in data analysis that includes weapons effectiveness at destroying targets, identifying trends in multi-variate data
Experience using Microsoft Office products (ex. Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications:
10+ experience in the US Air Force or other military service
Graduate degree in Operations Research/Mathematics/Linear and Nonlinear Optimization
Experience in modeling & simulation of modern combat aircraft, other airborne systems, and weapons employment and effectiveness at the campaign level
Experience developing study plans that include background, purpose of study, scope/limitations, critical assumptions and constraints, measures of effectiveness, study parameters and variables, methodology description, data requirements and schedule
Experience developing model inputs, running models, and utilizing Excel spreadsheets or other tools to analyze modelling results.
Experience communicating M&S assumptions, methodology, results, and conclusions in briefings and formal reports. Experience answering questions and RFIs from Senior Leaders on these briefings and reports.
Experience building data analysis tools using Microsoft Excel or any of a number of other platforms for data analysis (Python, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, MATLAB, etc.)

The projected compensation range for this position is $104,200.00-$172,900.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
