Job Summary/Basic Function

The Department of Mathematical Science at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#107190) in Actuarial Science at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2025.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain an active research agenda in actuarial science and related fields.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses supporting the Actuarial Science and Statistics and the Computational and Data Science PhD program.
• Supervise undergraduate and graduate student research projects.
• Assist the Director of Actuarial Sciences with program and curriculum development.
• Mentor students, including international students, by providing academic and career guidance.
• Establish and maintain relationships with industry professionals to enhance the program’s visibility and opportunities for students.
• Participate in recruitment efforts and program assessment to ensure continuous improvement and alignment with industry standards.

Required Education

A terminal degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or a closely related field is required by the appointment date.

Other Desirables

Applicants with professional certification as a fellow or associate of the Society of Actuaries (SOA) or the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) will receive special consideration.
