The success of SCC is rooted in the mission of serving the community by "focusing on academic excellence, student success, workforce advancement, and life-long learning within a global society."St Charles Community College is seeking a Full time Mechanic/Maintenance Technician to perform preventive maintenance and repair of electrically powered, gasoline and diesel-powered equipment, machines and vehicles.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Performs tune-ups, lubrication, oil and filter changes, adjust or changes belts and hoses on all vehicles.Repairs a variety of problems including electrical systems, brakes, carburetors, engine and engine compression, clutch, transmission, injectors, differentials, pumps, muffler, hydraulic and power take-off operations.Sharpens or replaces blades on grounds equipment.Repairs all grounds equipment including snowplow equipment.Knowledge of welding and fabrication is required.Performs preventive maintenance of vehicles, carts, and equipment.Performs inventory and requisition parts as required.Tracks repairs and maintenance.Assists with general maintenance.Assists with general grounds work.Operation of campus vehicles as needed.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma or equivalent.Minimum Two years experience in vehicle repair and maintenance with 1 year of small engine repair.Must be able to troubleshoot, repair, replace, and install equipment from blueprints and schematics.Must be able to use hand tools, pneumatic tools, computer with excel or other database software, testing equipment, tire tools, press welders, and sanders.Valid Class A, B, C, or E Driver's License required. St. Charles Community College is an Equal Opportunity Employer
