Ensuring Chart's Success…

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing maintenance and repair of equipment within the manufacturing facility including electrical, hydraulic and mechanical troubleshooting. The maintenance mechanic is directly involved with the execution of Chart's Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) program and perform facilities maintenance involving welding, plumbing, painting, carpentry and other maintenance duties, as assigned.

What Will You Do?

  • Perform Total Productive Maintenance on site infrastructure and manufacturing equipment. Tracks repair history in the maintenance database.
  • Repair electric, pneumatic and hydraulic circuits as needed. Replaces defective components to restore proper operation of equipment and mechanical systems. Makes modifications to equipment to achieve desired results. Maintains accurate records and metrics related to machine downtime due to maintenance issues. Works with contractors verifying compliance to desired results.
  • Provide support on continuous improvement projects.
  • Perform activities relating to 6S in order to drive better work place standardization. Delivers timely responses to work orders, safety observations, departmental audits, findings. Maintains a clean and safe work area. Performs duties in a safe manner and observes approved safety procedures. Responds promptly to minimize downtime, and drive improvements.
  • Communicate potential hazards immediately to the department Coordinator or Manager and identifies and corrects potential unsafe conditions.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills in electrical, electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics, PLC, HVAC, plumbing, vacuum & mechanical powered equipment operation
  • Basic computer skills
  • Proficient troubleshooting skills in electrical, electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics, PLC, HVAC & plumbing
  • Advanced vacuum, mechanical powered equipment operation and gas (Argon, Nitrogen, Oxygen, etc.) system skills
  • Welding competency preferred
  • Supports cross training maintenance team peers (journeyman/apprentice structure).
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…

  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs. and occasionally heavier (50-60 lbs.) with assistance
  • Frequent sitting, standing, stooping, bending, twisting, walking and occasional crawling
  • Frequent pushing, pulling and handling of materials
  • Occasional climbing and working at elevated positions
  • Exposure to metal cutting, welding odors, welding flash and incidental acceptable limits of x-ray radiation
  • Possible exposure to chemical odors and temperature extremes
  • Exposure to overhead objects and occasional flying debris
  • Required use of safety glasses with side shields, ANSI approved steel-toed safety shoes, hearing protection and hard hat

Your Experience Should Be...

  • Mechanic I

  • Minimum 1-3 years maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Mechanic II

  • Minimum 3-5 years maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Mechanic III

  • Minimum 5+ years maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Technical knowledge of industrial powered equipment including forklifts, aerial lifts, cranes and hoists, etc.

  • Ability to read and understand maintenance instructions, schematics and blueprints, perform math computations and computer data entry.

  • Advanced troubleshooting and technical repair skills.

  • Electrical background and prior training required.

Maintenance Electrician license or Journeyman's or Masters license for the state of MN preferred.

Your Education Should Be…

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent

Vocational/Technical training in machining, electrical or mechanical
