Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Mechanical CAD Designer to join the Project Engineering team. This role is responsible for creating mechanical designs and technical drawings for chemical dispense systems and blending equipment while supporting manufacturing operations and customer requirements. The ideal candidate is proficient in SolidWorks, experienced in creating and editing P&IDs, and works effectively with engineering teams to develop and improve equipment designs.
Job Description
Design & Modeling:
Use SolidWorks to create and modify mechanical drawings from concepts and redlined documents
Create and maintain mechanical area layouts
P&ID & Documentation:
Read, edit, and create Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and schematics
Follow and contribute to mechanical design best practices
BOM & Sourcing:
Create and review mechanical Bills of Materials (BOMs) for accuracy and source mechanical components according to selection standards
Change Management:
Initiate, update, and approve Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and process documentation
Manufacturing Support:
Interface directly with production employees to resolve design issues as needed
Project Support:
Work in conjunction with the engineering team to ensure implementation of customer specifications and support design reviews
Skills Required
3+ years of experience in equipment design, industrial machinery, or related industries (semiconductor equipment experience is a plus)
Experience with Agile/PLM systems is a plus
Proficiency in SolidWorks (CSWA/CSWP preferred)
Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D)
Strong ability to read, create, and edit Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), schematics, and other product documentation
Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering and production teams
The ideal candidate is a hands-on designer who is proficient in SolidWorks and comfortable creating and editing P&IDs
Education/Training/Certifications
Associate’s degree in a Mechanical Engineering-related field
Additional Requirements
Must be able to pass a drug screening and criminal background check
Work Schedule: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm CST
Pay Rate/Salary
$35–$50/hour depending on experience. Compensation will be offered within the posted range based on experience, skills, and market factors
