Tesla s Cell Infrastructure team is looking for an experienced HVAC Commissioning Engineer to lead a team through scoping, scheduling, execution, and close out of projects. This role specializes in the commissioning of wet & dry mechanical systems, balancing (TAB), associated controls, and envelope integrity. The ideal candidate will have a strong field intensive background in a startup, pre-functional and functional checks, TAB, retro-commissioning, envelope integrity testing, and system troubleshooting. The candidate will coordinate and commissioning in the field for mechanical systems in Tesla's Cell Manufacturing Facility and other special projects. Experience in cleanroom environments such as semiconductor, pharmaceutical, and healthcare facilities is preferred. In this role you will be responsible for planning and execution of commissioning projects, scheduling, budgeting, design reviews, risk management, procurement coordination, planning work, managing work in the field, and troubleshooting system performance issues. It requires technical MEP expertise, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to effectively support multiple teams. This role has a travel expectancy of 25%.

  • Lead assigned commissioning projects and perform all phases from design, scoping, scheduling, execution, startup, to turnover
  • Perform BOD and design reviews
  • Develop commissioning plans, checklists, field reports, schedule, budget, and other technical documents related to mechanical commissioning
  • Systemize equipment and coordinate startup with construction team
  • Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT). Coordinate and perform Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
  • Maintain communications regarding schedule, budget, and progress updates with key stakeholders
  • Utilize completions management software to document progress and manage punchlist
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience performing mechanical commissioning with at least 5 years of project management experience
  • Ability to lead a team of technicians to meet project milestones. Also, procure and manage contractors
  • Experience working in cleanroom, biomedical research, or similar environments
  • Technical expertise with air handlers, fans, dehumidification, chilled water plants, heating plants, environmental controls, and other HVAC systems
  • Competence reading of design drawings, submittals, P&ID's, SOW's, SOO's, and TAB reports
  • Experience performing envelope leakage testing
  • Strong background in all aspects of scope management including, scheduling, budgeting, and documentation
