Blackrock Resources is seeking an experienced leader to guide our Pittsburgh-based mechanical engineering team with a focus on industrial piping systems. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned engineering leader who combines strong technical expertise with a passion for team development, project execution, and business growth. Located in the vibrant city of Pittsburgh, PA, this role offers a chance to work in a dynamic environment known for its rich industrial history and growing technological landscape.
As part of a multidisciplinary engineering and construction services organization, you will work with clients across a wide range of industries, including metals, chemical, industrial manufacturing, automotive, food processing, municipal, and environmental sectors. You will play a key role in shaping the future of our mechanical department while delivering innovative solutions for complex heavy industrial projects.
Qualifications:
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Pennsylvania or another U.S. state preferred
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
15 years of engineering experience in industrial environments
5 years of leadership or management experience
Strong background in industrial piping system design and analysis
Experience leading projects from conceptual design through detailed engineering and execution
Working knowledge of 3D CAD systems
Technical Expertise:
Familiarity with engineering software such as: Caesar II, Pipe-Flo, AFT Fathom
Strong knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards, including: ASME, NFPA, API
Experience within heavy industrial sectors such as metals, chemical processing, manufacturing, energy, or related industries
Leadership & Department Management:
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers and designers
Plan and allocate resources across multiple projects and proposals
Conduct performance reviews and support employee development initiatives
Collaborate with senior leadership to establish departmental goals, strategy, and growth plans
Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
Project & Business Leadership:
Oversee the successful execution of engineering services for multiple projects
Develop engineering estimates and contribute to proposal development efforts

Ability to travel locally and regionally to support client needs
