Mechanical Design Engineer, Prototype, New Programs Engineering

The New Programs Engineering team works at the front-end of vehicle design and development. This multidisciplinary team works to architect and prototype Tesla's future generations of vehicles. The role involves tight collaboration with other groups across Design, Vehicle Engineering, and Autopilot to create prototypes that accelerate Tesla's product development cycle.

• Full lifecycle ownership over entire systems to create low volume prototype vehicles
• Collaborate effectively with other engineering teams, designers, fabricators, machinists, and technicians
• Self-define constraints to solve complex challenges given ambiguous initial requirements
• Perform concept development, mechanical design and analysis in 3DX, project management, documentation, and hands-on assembly
• Quickly learn complex new-to-you systems and drive novel prototype implementations for design and engineering validation.
• Bachelor s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
• 2+ years of experience in a product development environment
• Broad knowledge of prototyping methods for automotive systems
• Experience designing and assembling complex electromechanical systems
• Multiphysics simulation experience
• Experience with surface design, parametric optimization, and other advanced CAD functionality
• Detail-oriented personality with documentation experience

Expected Compensation

$91,600 - $195,600/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
