Position Title: Mechanical Designer – GD&T Tolerance Analysis
Position Description: Protingent Staffing has an exciting contract Mechanical Designer – GD&T Tolerance Analysis opportunity.
Job Responsibilities:
Produce robust CAD models that facilitate fast-paced design evolution and derivative creation that leverage advanced CAD modeling techniques and methodologies.
Develop and maintain complex mechanical designs; pro-actively seek out, research, and propose unique solutions; conduct trade studies to down-select best option.
Use model configurations to support analysis needs, such as: Structural, Neutronics, Thermal-Hydraulic, Radiological, Safety, etc.
Generate complex 3-D tolerance analyses using Sigmetrix CeTol 6? software.
Review drawings for accuracy of information, correct application of GD&T per ASME Y14.5-2018, conformance to ASME & Company drafting standards via electronic redline process.
Document design progress, changes, and decisions via Company's internal and external online collaboration workspaces.
Create supporting technical presentations, documents, and reports as needed.
Create engineering drawings (design, layout, detail, interface control, general arrangement, etc.) per ASME Y14.1 and Y14.5 standards.
Perform and document 1-D tolerance stack up calculations.
Ensure and maintain configuration control of models/drawings via Company's product data management and product life-cycle management software.
Regularly review design group generated documents, propose improvements, proactively contribute to written guidance and standards development.
Job Qualifications:
Demonstrated expertise with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5-2018
8+ years of relevant experience in CAD with proficiency in SolidWorks
Experience using a product data management system (PDM)
Experience producing engineering drawings in SolidWorks
Experience checking design drawings
Creative thinker with strong analytical/problem solving skills and ability to work multiple tasks concurrently with minimum direction to solve challenging problems
Organized and detail oriented, with excellent writing and communication skills
Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)
Experience in Mechanical and Machine Design
The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly, display respect, and show a desire to foster teamwork.
Travel Required: 0-5%.

Pay Rate Range: $52-$85/hr (Pay rates are approved based on candidate location, education and experience)
Location: 100% Remote
