Akkodis is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a Contract job with a client in Amityville, NY. The ideal candidate will have experience in mechanical design, CAD modeling, product development, structural analysis, and electro-mechanical systems, along with the ability to support products from concept through production.

Rate Range: $52/hour to $55/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Mechanical Engineer Job Responsibilities Include:

• Design, develop, and evaluate mechanical and electro-mechanical components and systems while ensuring compliance with customer requirements, technical specifications, cost targets, and project schedules.

• Create innovative design solutions for high-performance, high-pressure pneumatic mechanisms and systems that support product functionality, reliability, and manufacturability.

• Develop detailed CAD models, assemblies, engineering drawings, and design documentation using mechanical design software, preferably Creo.

• Perform product development activities including concept generation, detailed design, design reviews, and interpretation of customer specifications and documentation requirements.

• Support structural and thermal analysis activities through engineering calculations, first-order hand calculations, and finite element analysis (FEA) methodologies.

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline with a minimum of four years of relevant experience, or a Graduate Degree with a minimum of two years of related experience.

• In lieu of a degree, a minimum of eight years of relevant mechanical engineering, product development, or design engineering experience may be considered.

• Strong experience designing mechanical systems, assemblies, pneumatic systems, or electro-mechanical products in a product development environment.

• Proficiency with CAD software including part modeling, assembly modeling, and engineering drawing creation, preferably using Creo.

• Experience interpreting and creating 2D engineering drawings, mechanical documentation, and technical design packages.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience supporting aerospace, defense, industrial, pneumatic, or high-performance mechanical product development programs.

• Knowledge of structural and thermal analysis techniques, finite element analysis (FEA), and engineering validation methodologies.

• Experience presenting technical information during design reviews including Preliminary Design Reviews (PDRs) and Critical Design Reviews (CDRs).

• Familiarity with prototype development, integration testing, design verification, and manufacturing support activities.

Pay Details: $52.00 to $55.00 per hour
