Mechanical Engineer (Temp)

Our Client is seeking new and recent graduates to develop solutions in support of several of their defense programs. Current focal areas include autonomous control, advanced payload integration, vision systems, and other emerging technologies to enhance their unmanned surface vehicle platforms' capabilities.

Your day may include designing, simulating, constructing, and field-testing autonomous surface vehicles and their subsystems. Our clients'' goal is to deliver disruptive autonomy technologies that enhance their customers' mission capabilities. They work?on applied research and development initiatives as well as established programs, and leverage diversity of thought to improve lines of robotic products.

Responsibilities:

• Perform hardware engineering activities within a team of Mechanical, Electrical, and Software Engineers.
• Develop imaginative, thorough, practicable technical solutions to a wide range of challenging Mechanical Engineering problems.
• Contribute to concept development as part of internal cross-functional design teams, including prototyping, production, and test support.
• Perform detailed design of mechanical structures and subsystems using solid modeling, requirements analysis, trade studies, mechanical engineering analysis (including structural, dynamics, and thermal), drafting and tolerance analysis, and human interface design.
• Prepare high-quality formal engineering documentation such as drawings, specifications and design presentations to customers.
• Brief peers, management, and customers on design considerations and program status.
• Prepare and/or manage design change documentation via Engineering Change Notices/Engineering Change Proposals.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's and/or master's degree in mechanical engineering, electro-mechanical engineering, or a related field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills including preparation of design documentation.

Effective presentation skills.

• Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio).
• Desire and ability to operate in a team environment is required.
• Experience with mechanism development, generating Free Body Diagrams, performing basic static/dynamic/structural hand calculations, prototyping, packaging, performance specifications, material tests, and research investigations.
• Familiarity with and ability to use computer-aided design tools is required; Siemens NX and SolidWorks are preferred; Magic Draw and Jira are a plus.
• Experience designing tests for military environmental, shock, and vibration qualifications.
• Temperament to work in the lab, shop floor, or office.
• Familiarity with ASME drawing standards is preferred.
• Ability to get a security clearance.
