Your Role

Akkodis is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a Contract job with a client in Waukegan, IL. The ideal candidate will have mechanical design experience, strong proficiency in SolidWorks and PTC Creo, and experience supporting new product development from concept through production release.

Rate Range: $48/hour to $50/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Mechanical Engineer Job Responsibilities Include:

• Develop 3D mechanical designs, assemblies, and engineering documentation using SolidWorks and PTC Creo to support new product development and existing product enhancements.

• Create and maintain detailed production-level engineering drawings in accordance with established drafting standards and engineering best practices.

• Design sheet metal components, brackets, chassis, enclosures, panels, and electromechanical assemblies for power-quality and power-distribution products.

• Develop mechanical packaging solutions for electrical and electronic components, including PCBs, wiring, connectors, transformers, contactors, breakers, and cooling systems.

• Apply GD&T principles, tolerance analysis, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) methodologies to ensure product quality, reliability, and ease of production.

• Support prototype builds, design verification activities, fit checks, engineering testing, BOM creation, engineering change implementation, and production release processes.

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.

• Three to five years of professional mechanical design experience within product development or manufacturing environments.

• Strong proficiency with SolidWorks and practical experience utilizing PTC Creo for 3D modeling and design activities.

• Experience creating production-ready 3D models, assembly structures, engineering drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).

• Strong knowledge of sheet metal design, fabrication methods, GD&T, and engineering drawing standards.

• Understanding of manufacturing processes, DFM principles, and product lifecycle development practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience designing electrical enclosures, power electronics products, UPS systems, PDUs, industrial equipment, or related electromechanical products.

• Experience integrating electrical and electronic components into mechanical assemblies and packaging designs.

• Familiarity with thermal management solutions including airflow analysis, fan integration, and cooling system design.

• Experience with cable routing, wire harness design considerations, and connector packaging.

• Knowledge of PLM/PDM systems, engineering change control processes, and product release management.

• Familiarity with UL-listed industrial or electrical equipment and related design requirements.

Pay Details: $48.00 to $50.00 per hour
