Project Director | Mechanical Construction | Large-Scale Projects

A growing mechanical contractor is seeking a Project Director to lead complex construction projects and oversee project teams in the Charlotte market.

This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving financial performance, mentoring project teams, and ensuring successful delivery across multiple projects. Ideal for someone who has progressed from Project Manager into a leadership role and wants to have a broader impact across operations, clients, and long-term strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee multiple mechanical construction projects, ensuring financial performance, schedule, and execution targets are met
• Lead and support Project Managers on complex HVAC, piping, and plumbing projects from preconstruction through closeout
• Monitor key project metrics including cost, productivity, and schedule performance
• Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, general contractors, and key partners
• Review project plans, schedules, and work strategies to ensure successful execution
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to align scope, resources, and delivery timelines
• Support development of advanced schedules and resource planning strategies
• Mentor and develop project teams, driving accountability and performance
• Participate in strategic planning and workforce planning initiatives

What You Bring:

• 8+ years of experience in mechanical construction project management or leadership roles
• Strong background in HVAC, piping, or plumbing systems within commercial or industrial construction
• Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex, multi-phase projects
• Experience with project financials, cost control, and productivity tracking
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents and develop execution strategies
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Experience with construction software (Procore, Bluebeam, P6, or similar) is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
