We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer located in Farmington, CT.
As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for most aspects of the design, construction administration, and commissioning phases.
The successful applicant will be expected to take a concept or schematic design and independently identify specific work products required for the final design phase, including drawings, details, and specifications.
The successful applicant must be capable of producing coordinated, code compliant designs that utilize firm and industry best practices for high availability and maintainability.
Candidates must have an aptitude to determine, comprehend, process and recommend multiple technical details and alternatives.
The position will require extensive interaction with the client, sub-consultants and other project team members including architects, vendors and other engineers.
Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must. Applicants must have experience with and demonstrate an aptitude for developing contract drawings and specifications with limited supervision.
This position will focus on HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems for small and large projects including broadcast facilities, data centers, financial institutions, hospitals, and military training facilities.
Qualifications:
5-10 years’ experience in mechanical design with at least 3 years’ experience in project management in consulting engineering.
Experience designing mission critical facilities and data centers is desired.
Experience in AutoCAD and REVIT software is required.
Some Commissioning experience is desired.
Experience in the following is required:
Air conditioning systems (including chillers, primary/secondary or variable primary pumping, cooling towers, air-side and/or water-side economization, air handlers, CRAH, humidification, distribution piping and ductwork systems, etc.)
Plumbing systems
Fire protection systems.
Building management system (Client) design and sequence of operations
Familiar with International Building Codes, ASHRAE Standards, NFPA
A Professional Engineering licensed is a plus but not required for this position.
Responsibilities:
Conduct site surveys.
Perform load calculations.
Size and layout all mechanical and plumbing equipment per the project scope.
Develop code compliant contract documents including drawings, specifications, and detailed sequence of operations.
Complete all project related responsibilities with limited supervision.
Coordinate with other engineering and/or architecture firms, contractors, vendors, and clients to deliver high quality, highly coordinated results.
Technical leadership providing complete project management services through design and construction phases; including design development, detailed design, construction administration, Level 1 through Level 5 commissioning and project closeout.
Attend project meetings as owner representative.
In and out of state travel is minimal but may be required based on the project
