    Some projects demand more than technical expertise. They need a leader who can bring together people, finances, safety, operations, and execution to deliver results. In partnership with out clients, we are looking for a Mechanical Senior Project Manager to lead high-impact projects across Buffalo, Rochester, and Albany, NY. In this role, you will take ownership of complex mechanical construction projects from design and procurement through fabrication and installation. You will also lead and develop Project Managers, strengthen project profitability, build strong labor relationships, and drive a culture of safety and operational excellence across the region.
    Who are we looking for?
    • You are an experienced mechanical construction leader with a proven track record managing projects exceeding $5 million and portfolios exceeding $15 million.

    Your Responsibilities…
    Project Execution & Financial Management
    • You will lead the end-to-end execution of complex mechanical construction projects, ensuring contracted work is delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
    • You will manage project financials through detailed measurement, forecasting, budget tracking, variance analysis, and profitability reviews.
    • You will protect and improve anticipated gross margins through effective project planning, resource management, and cost control.
    • You will oversee procurement activities to secure cost savings and ensure the timely delivery of major subcontracts, equipment, and long-lead items.
    • You will monitor project performance and take action when financial or operational issues threaten project objectives.
    Leadership & Team Development
    • You will lead and develop Project Managers, creating a culture of accountability, professional growth, and strong project performance.
    • You will manage Project Management resources to maximize profitability and operational efficiency.
    • You will work with Regional and Executive Leadership to ensure staffing levels match project requirements, contractual obligations, and budgeted overhead.
    • You will drive continuous improvement across Project Management processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and project outcomes.
    Safety & Operational Excellence
    • You will lead and implement the company safety program across managed projects, promoting a strong culture of worker protection and accountability.
    • You will monitor safety performance and ensure project teams consistently follow required safety standards and procedures.
    • You will drive operational improvements that strengthen productivity, quality, safety, and profitability.
    • You will promote lean construction practices and look for opportunities to improve how work is planned and delivered.
    Collaboration, VDC & Construction
    • You will work closely with the VDC department and fabrication shops to support fabrication drawings, prefabrication strategies, and lean construction methods.
    • You will ensure VDC and fabrication practices contribute to improved margins, quality, safety, and project delivery.
    • You will coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, field teams, and internal departments to maintain project schedules and budgets.
    • You will build productive relationships with labor unions while supporting workforce engagement and operational efficiency.
    • You will represent the organization professionally when working with industry, community, and professional organizations.
    What Success looks like…
    • Projects consistently meet or exceed their planned gross margin targets.
    • Project financial forecasts, budgets, and variance reports are accurate and delivered on time.
    • Projects remain aligned with contractual requirements, schedules, budgets, quality standards, and safety expectations.
    • Project Managers demonstrate stronger leadership, accountability, and independence under your guidance.
    • Major equipment, subcontractors, and long-lead materials are procured on time and within approved budgets.
    • Safety performance remains strong across managed projects, with consistent adherence to company safety standards.
    • VDC, fabrication, prefabrication, and lean construction practices contribute measurable improvements in cost, quality, safety, and efficiency.
    • Strong, productive relationships are maintained with labor unions, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
    • Staffing remains aligned with project demands while staying within approved overhead budgets.
    To be considered for this role you should have…
    • Proven experience managing individual mechanical construction projects exceeding $5 million in contract value.
    • Experience managing project portfolios exceeding $15 million in aggregate revenue.
    • Strong knowledge of mechanical construction, HVAC, plumbing, building codes, and project delivery methods.
    • Demonstrated experience working effectively with labor unions and maintaining strong management relations.
    • Strong experience in project financial management, forecasting, budgeting, cost control, and profitability management.
    • Proven experience leading, mentoring, and developing Project Managers or project management teams.
    • Experience with procurement, subcontractor management, equipment purchasing, and long-lead materials.
    • Knowledge of VDC, prefabrication, and lean construction methods.
    • A Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline is strongly preferred. Equivalent field experience and technical expertise may also be considered.
    • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
    • High integrity, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence.
    • Must be authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder.
