Advanced Personnel Resources is seeking a mechanically inclined Technical Support Advisor for an exciting opportunity with a well-established, global manufacturer of specialized industrial and material handling equipment in Greensboro, NC.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced automotive technician, diesel mechanic, forklift technician, heavy equipment mechanic, or industrial maintenance technician who is interested in transitioning from hands-on equipment repairs into an office-based technical support role.
Rather than performing physical repairs, you will use your mechanical knowledge to help equipment dealers and service technicians troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve equipment-related issues remotely.
Please note: This is NOT an IT Help Desk or computer technical support position. Candidates must have a background in mechanical equipment, automotive service, heavy equipment, or related industrial maintenance.
Location: Greensboro, NC
Pay: $20.00–$25.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Employment Type: Full-Time, Temp-to-Hire
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical assistance to equipment dealers and field service technicians via telephone and email.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and equipment performance issues.
- Guide technicians through diagnostic procedures and potential repair solutions.
- Interpret technical documentation, service manuals, schematics, and equipment drawings as needed.
- Collaborate with internal technical teams, engineering, and service departments to resolve equipment concerns.
- Assist with identifying replacement parts and coordinating parts orders.
- Document troubleshooting activities, service inquiries, and resolutions accurately.
- Follow up on outstanding technical issues to ensure timely resolution and customer satisfaction.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with dealerships, customers, and technical service teams.
- Remain current on equipment updates, troubleshooting procedures, and product knowledge.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in automotive, diesel, heavy equipment, forklift, material handling, or industrial maintenance environments.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and an understanding of equipment troubleshooting and repair.
- Familiarity with mechanical, hydraulic, and/or electrical systems.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to explain technical information clearly over the phone and through email.
- Comfortable using computers to research, document, and communicate technical information.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple service inquiries.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a technical support team.
- Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and a customer-focused approach.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous hands-on experience as a mechanic, maintenance technician, or field service technician.
- Experience troubleshooting forklifts, industrial equipment, commercial vehicles, or specialized machinery.
- Ability to read technical drawings, electrical schematics, and hydraulic diagrams.
- Previous experience providing technical assistance to customers, dealerships, or service technicians.
No college degree required.
