Mechanical Technician III

Job Title: Mechanical Technician IIICompensation: $50/hrLocation: Carlsbad, NMSchedule: 5/2, 40 hours per week with approved overtime; no more than 16 hours per dayTarget Start Date: ASAPTentative End Date: One year from startingScopeTechnicians are assigned to carry out maintenance work as an ExxonMobil (XOM) employee or contractor resource. Typically reports to a supervisor.Key Responsibilities

• Estimate workload to establish completion dates.
• Assist mechanical engineers in planning and testing mechanical components, equipment, and machinery, such as engines, instruments, controls, robots, and machines.
• Help prepare proposals and cost estimates.
• Actively participate in the use of all on-the-job safety tools.
• Review job packs.
• Identify safety issues associated with the job and ensure removal or mitigation before working.
• Execute work as planned.
• Record technical history as required by the workgroup, including the Global Reliability Tool (GRT), data sheets, and other applicable records.
• Provide feedback on job pack improvements to the Execution FLS.
• Request permits and notify the supervisor if a permit cannot be issued within 30 minutes of the requested time.

Skills and Qualifications

• Discipline-appropriate certification(s), if applicable, or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to clearly and concisely describe field conditions and recommend remediation steps.
• Effective teamwork when working with individuals over whom the technician has no direct authority, with a willingness to assist others.
• Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequent changes in priorities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
