Job Description

The Medical Assistant provides clinical and administrative support to psychiatric medical providers and the interdisciplinary care team serving a forensic mental health population. This role manages an assigned caseload, coordinates medical services, supports continuity of care, and maintains accurate clinical documentation while working under the supervivion of a licensed provider.Work Environment This position serves a forensic mental health population and requires professionalism, strong boundaries, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.Key ResponsibilitiesManage an assigned caseload and assist with coordination of ongoing medical servicesCoordinate appointments with multiple healthcare providers to support continuity of careAssist with care coordination for clients with multiple medical and mental health comorbiditiesCollect patient health data and perform basic intake and health screeningsMaintain accurate patient records in both paper charts and the (EHR)Administer medications and injections as orderd by the provider and according to clinical protocolsOrder laboratory tests and track results as directed by providersProvide patient education related to medications, treatments, and general health managementProvide basic firstr aid and maintain current CPR certificationCommunicate effectively with psychiatric physicians and interdisciplinary care teammembersParticipate in interdisciplinary team meetings to support coordinated patient careAssist with prior authorizations and insurance documentation when neededDelegate appropriate non - clinical tasks to direct care staff as directed by the clinical teamMaintain confidentiality and follow organizational policies and proceduresQualificationsMedical Assistant certification preferred or relevant clinical experienceExperience in behavioral health or forensic populatins preferredKnowledge of Electronic Health systemsStrong documentation, organizational, and time management skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to manage multiple responsibilities in a clinical environmentScheduleMonday through Froday, 8:00am - 5:00pm
