Medical Assistant - Contract

About Facility:

General Information:

• Beds: 40
• Will you accept a traveler with 1-year experience:
  • RN: No, 2 years with clinic experience preferred
  • MA: Yes, need to family practice experience
• Will you accept a first-time traveler: Yes (for RN and MA)

Patient Types:

• Peds, adults, geriatrics
• Wellness, sick visits, vaccinations, minor procedures (suture removals), INR, IUDs, Nexplanon, hypertension clinic led by RNs
• Urgent care is on site but separate from Family Practice
• MA: will be assigned to specific provider. If their assigned provider is not there for the day, then they'll work with another provider. Could also be assigned to chiropractor here at the clinic. Will also provide scheduling support as needed

Patients seen in a day: 200-300. Monday averages 400+ patients per day

Required Licensure & Certifications:

• RN: BLS
• MA: BLS

Skills required:

• RN: Needs to be comfortable providing education/teaching for hypertension, education on insulin injections, triaging (there are protocols to follow), rooming patients, vitals, med rec, etc.
• MA: Family Practice experience, injections: vaccines, Depo, testosterone, Toradol, Rocephin; will call patients for normal test results, obtaining A1C, rooming patients, vitals, history, med rec, setting up for cultures/pap smear, obtaining EKGs, ear lavages. EPIC experience preferred. MUST have pediatric experience, especially giving peds vaccines

Support on the Unit:

• 4 other RN
• 7 MAs
• 7 Patient Service Representatives
• Lab/Phlebotomy on site
• 8 total providers: 2 PA, 1 NP, the rest MDs
• Management/Supervisor

Technology/Equipment: EMR: Ambulatory EPIC preferred experience for RN, required for MA

Floating: If yes, where: No

Orientation: Up to 2 weeks of orientation, depending on experience

Scheduling:

• Weekend rotation: No
• On call: No
• Holiday Expectations: No
• Approval of RTO: We can approve 7 days
• Shift times:
  • RN: Monday Friday, 0800-1630
  • MA: Mon/Tues/Thurs 0715-1700. Wed 0715-1500. Fri 0730-1230.
