Medical Assistant – Front & Back Office (Podiatry)
Location: Edison, NJ Job Type: Full-Time Pay: $22.00 – $26.00 per hour (based on experience and certification)
About the Role
Our growing podiatry practice is seeking a versatile, cross-trained Medical Assistant for our Edison office. This is a dual role: you'll move seamlessly between the front desk and clinical support depending on the day's flow. If you're someone who takes pride in keeping a busy office running smoothly — greeting patients one moment and assisting the physician the next — we want to hear from you.
You'll be a key member of a close-knit team and work directly alongside our provider to deliver an excellent patient experience from check-in to check-out.
What You'll Do
Front Office / Reception
Greet and check in patients; verify demographics and insurance
Complete insurance eligibility and prior authorizations
Schedule appointments and manage the daily provider schedule
Confirm upcoming appointments and manage the waitlist to reduce no-shows
Collect co-pays and outstanding balances at point of service
Coordinate referrals and communicate with referring offices
Answer phones and respond to patient inquiries
Back Office / Clinical Support
Room patients, take vitals, and document in the EMR
Assist the physician with in-office podiatric procedures (nail care, debridement, wound care, injections)
Set up and break down treatment rooms; maintain instrument sterilization
Assist with casting, DME dispensing, and diabetic foot care
Prepare and maintain clinical supplies and inventory
What We're Looking For
Prior Medical Assistant experience in an outpatient/clinic setting
Comfort working both front desk and clinical roles (or strong willingness to be cross-trained)
Working knowledge of insurance verification and EMR systems
Strong communication skills and a professional, patient-first attitude
Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced office
Reliable, punctual, and a team player
Preferred (not required):
MA certification (CMA, RMA, or CCMA)
Podiatry, surgical, or specialty-office experience
Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Experience with [insert your EMR system]
Schedule
Full-time, [insert days/hours, e.g., Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM]
No weekends / [adjust as needed]
Benefits
Competitive hourly pay
[Paid time off]
[Paid holidays]
[401(k), if offered]
Paid cross-training and opportunity to grow within the practice
