    Job Description

Come work at the best place to give and receive care!

    Job Description:

    Who We Are:

Southern New Hampshire Health has been a cornerstone of the region since 1893, delivering high-quality, compassionate care close to home. Anchored by Southern New Hampshire Medical Center—a 188-bed, DNV-accredited hospital in downtown Nashua with a Level III-N trauma center, Level II Special Care Nursery, and Magnet® designation for nursing excellence—we offer a full spectrum of services from primary care to advanced diagnostics and specialized treatments.

Employee Health & Wellness is a vital part of our mission. We are committed to creating a safe, healthy, and supportive environment for our workforce. Through proactive health screenings, immunization programs, wellness initiatives, and education, we empower employees to maintain optimal health and well-being—because caring for our team means better care for our community.

    About the Job:

The Medical Assistant is responsible for performing delegated clinical and administrative functions under the direct supervision of a provider and Practice Manager. This role offers a unique opportunity to work within Employee Health & Wellness, focusing on prevention, workplace safety, and employee well-being rather than a traditional ambulatory setting.

In this role, you will support the health, resilience, and readiness of healthcare employees across the organization. You’ll leverage your clinical expertise in an occupational health setting—conducting assessments, supporting immunization programs, and promoting a safe and healthy work environment—while making a broader impact on the workforce as a whole.

    What You’ll Do:

Participate in patient care in person, via telephone, and telehealth under provider supervision.

Administer prescribed medications, treatments, immunizations, and perform point-of-care testing.

Collect and screen patient history and health-related information; communicate findings to providers.

Document care activities accurately in the medical record.

Assist with pre-visit preparation, including coordinating testing and patient outreach.

Perform administrative duties such as medical records and patient service tasks as needed.

Mentor and train new staff as directed.

Attend ongoing education programs and maintain annual competencies.

Adhere to safety, infection control, HIPAA, and confidentiality guidelines.

Maintain current certifications, including Basic Life Support.

    Who You Are / Requirements:

    Education:

High School diploma or GED required.

Completion of a Medical Assistant Program or 3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant.

    Licensure/Certification:

    Current BLS/CPR certification required.

Preferred: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA AAMA), or ABR-OE.

    Experience:

Previous experience in a patient-facing role required.

3 years of experience required without completion of a Medical Assistant program.

Preferred: One year experience in a medical practice or healthcare setting; direct patient care experience strongly preferred.

    Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of medical terminology, office workflow, EMR systems, and Windows-based applications.

Skilled in standard precautions, confidentiality, interpersonal communication, and time management.

Ability to multitask, adapt to changing environments, and work as part of a team.

    Why You’ll Love Us:

Health, dental, prescription, and vision coverage for full-time & part-time employees

    Short-term, long-term disability, life & pet insurance

    Tuition reimbursement

    Nursing Student Loan Paydown Program

403(b) Retirement savings plans with company matching

    Continuous earned time accrual

    & more!

    Work Shift:

    1st shift
