    About The Role

    The Medical Assistant Full Time role is an hourly, full-time position within our Medical Assistant department, supporting providers and clinical staff in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. In this role, you will work directly with patients to prepare them for visits and procedures, accurately document clinical information, and assist with a variety of clinical and administrative tasks. You will be an essential member of the care team, helping to ensure smooth patient flow, timely communication, and adherence to clinical and safety standards.     What You'll Do

    • Greet and prepare patients for examinations, including verifying identity, taking vital signs, and documenting medical histories and chief complaints
    • Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments within the scope of a Medical Assistant and in accordance with clinic protocols
    • Document patient information accurately and promptly in the electronic health record (EHR), ensuring completeness and confidentiality
    • Perform basic clinical tasks such as administering injections, collecting specimens, performing point-of-care tests, and conducting EKGs, as permitted by training and state regulations
    • Maintain exam rooms and clinical areas, including cleaning, stocking supplies, and ensuring equipment is in proper working order
    • Coordinate patient flow by preparing rooms, calling patients from the waiting area, and communicating wait times or delays
    • Provide patients with instructions regarding medications, treatments, tests, and follow-up appointments as directed by providers
    • Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering phones, processing referrals, and managing medical records
    • Assist with medication reconciliation and verify patient allergies and current medications at each visit
    • Support infection prevention and safety protocols, including proper hand hygiene, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and disposal of biohazardous materials
    • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other team members to support coordinated, efficient, and patient-focused care
    • Participate in ongoing training and quality improvement initiatives to maintain competencies and improve clinical processes
    • Comply with all organizational policies, HIPAA regulations, and relevant state and federal healthcare regulations


    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program strongly preferred
    • Current Medical Assistant certification or registration (e.g., CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA) preferred; willingness to obtain certification within a specified timeframe if required by the employer
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification, or ability to obtain prior to or shortly after hire
    • Previous experience as a Medical Assistant or in a clinical healthcare setting preferred, but new graduates from accredited programs may be considered
    • Working knowledge of basic clinical procedures, vital signs, and infection control practices
    • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and basic computer skills, including data entry and email
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally and compassionately with patients, families, and staff
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
    • Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation, specimen labeling, and medication-related tasks
    • Physical ability to stand, walk, and move between exam rooms for extended periods, and to lift or move patients and equipment within reasonable limits
    • Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and commitment to patient confidentiality and ethical standards
    • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal; additional language skills are a plus
