Medical Assistant

Role Overview

As a Medical Assistant, you will work alongside providers to keep the clinical day running smoothly and safely. You will prepare patients for examinations, document their concerns accurately, and ensure that each visit moves forward with efficiency and compassion. The role calls for someone who is organized under pressure, detail-oriented in the exam room, and genuinely reassuring to patients who may be anxious or unwell.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet and room patients, obtain vital signs, and record medical histories and chief complaints in the electronic health record.
• Prepare examination rooms and ensure instruments and supplies are stocked, clean, and ready for use.
• Assist providers during examinations and minor in-office procedures.
• Administer injections, immunizations, and medications as directed and within scope of practice.
• Perform routine laboratory tasks such as venipuncture, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing.
• Document test results, follow up on orders, and communicate instructions to patients clearly.
• Manage prescription refill requests and prior authorizations in coordination with providers.
• Maintain accurate, confidential records in compliance with HIPAA and office protocols.
• Support scheduling, referrals, and patient callbacks as needed to keep care coordinated.
• Uphold infection control standards and follow safety procedures throughout the practice.

Qualifications

We are looking for a dependable professional who takes ownership of their work and treats every patient with respect.

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program; certification (CMA or RMA) preferred.
• Prior experience in a primary care or family practice setting is an advantage.
• Current CPR or BLS certification, or willingness to obtain it.
• Working knowledge of electronic health record systems and basic office software.
• Competence in clinical tasks including vital signs, venipuncture, and injections.
• Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to explain information plainly.
• Excellent organizational habits and comfort managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced clinic.
• A collaborative mindset and a commitment to patient confidentiality and safety.
