Overview
Location: 550 University Blvd Suite 2007, parking in surface lot
What You'll Do:
Serve as the primary patient-facing resource for scheduling in-person surgical procedures.
Communicate professionally and effectively with physicians, patients, the surgery center, and the prior authorization team.
Review medications and provide procedure instructions to patients using physician-approved guidance.
Coordinate procedure scheduling and communicate appointment details, preparation instructions, and expectations to patients.
Contact patients by phone regarding procedure rescheduling, prior authorization updates, and additional information needed for scheduling.
Submit surgery clearance forms and ensure timely follow-up and retrieval of completed documentation.
Monitor and manage physician procedure schedules to ensure templates are utilized effectively and procedure slots remain filled.
Collaborate closely with providers and support staff to maintain efficient patient flow and surgical scheduling processes.
Follow up on insurance authorization requirements and assist in obtaining information needed to support approvals.
Utilize Cerner and other communication tools to manage messages, coordinate care, and track scheduling activities.

Under the supervision of the designated supervisor and assigned physician, performs duties associated with direct patient care and clinical direction to provide patient care given in accordance with the organization standards. Assures completeness of ordered procedures and treatments, assures smooth patient flow, performs general lab work, instructs patients concerning procedures, treatments and needs, and ensures medical orders and referrals are carried out accurately and in a timely manner. Performs registration and scheduling activities per organizational and departmental procedures. Maintains EMR files and performs general front office functions as needed. May perform computerized physician order entry, only if directed by assigned physician. Expected to precept current MA team members or MA Externs as requested by leadership.
