Job Title: Medical Assistant II

Location: Houston, TX

Salary Range: $43,065 - $50,665

FLSA Status: Nonexempt

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Summary

The Texas Heart Institute at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a patient-focused medical assistant (bilingual in English and Spanish preferred) to support the Cardiology clinic in Fannin Tower. The ideal candidate will have a passion for assisting patients with clinical questions, refill requests, and care coordination.

Job Duties

• Provide direct patient care by rooming patients following established protocols and performing EKGs
• Provide clinical support for patient questions via MyChart and LiveAnswer telephone calls
• Support clinical administrative duties such as order entry, scanning medical records, and prescription refills as authorized
• May assist with insurance pre-authorizations or issues.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and completion of a Medical Assistant Training program through an accredited institution.
• Two years of relevant experience.
• Certification/Licenses/Registration Required: Current certification as a Medical Assistant through an accredited professional organization (AAMA, AMT, ARMA, NCCT, NHA, NAHP, AMCA, AAH, AAMP, or NPS). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through American Heart Association.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Experience with Ambulatory care.
• Experience with Cardiology care.
• Experience using EPIC.
