We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Medical Assistant (MA) to join our Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) program. The MA will support physicians and advanced practice providers in delivering high-quality care to patients with substance use disorders, particularly opioid use disorder.
This role involves patient intake, vital signs, urine drug screening, medication coordination, and care support in a fast-paced outpatient addiction medicine clinic.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Support
• Room patients and obtain vital signs, weight, and medical history updates
• Assist providers during MAT visits
• Schedule follow-up appointments
• Manage patient phone calls and medication refill requests
• Verify insurance and assist with prior authorizations
• Maintain exam room cleanliness and supply inventory
• Perform point-of-care urine drug screening (UDS) and document results
• Educate patients on medication adherence and clinic protocols
• Monitor patients for withdrawal and intoxication symptoms during visits
• Coordinate referrals to behavioral health, higher level of care, or community services
• Document patient information in Electronic Health Record (EHR)
• Upload lab results, toxicology reports, and external documents
• Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 confidentiality rules
• Follow clinic policies regarding controlled substance monitoring
• Assist with Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) verification
• Ensure compliance with state and federal addiction treatment regulations
Qualifications
Required
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) or equivalent experience
• Experience in primary care, behavioral health, or addiction medicine
• Knowledge of urine drug testing procedures
• Strong communication and patient engagement skills
• Proficiency with EHR systems
Preferred
• Experience working in MAT/Suboxone clinic
• Familiarity with ASAM criteria
• Experience with toxicology testing workflows
